Cherreads

Chapter 51 - The Paradox Training

Adriana took the threads. The gold thread carried the memory of a blistering July afternoon—the scent of hot asphalt and the taste of melting cherry ice. The blue thread was a memory of a mid-winter blizzard—the silence of falling snow and the bone-deep ache of a freezing wind.

"Hold them both," the Error-Log commanded. "Do not let them merge. Do not let one overpower the other. Force them to occupy the same space at the same time."

The Internal Strain

Adriana gasped. It felt like her mind was being pulled in two directions. Her left side felt the sun's heat, her skin beginning to sweat, while her right side began to shiver, frost forming on her eyelashes.

"This is a Paradox," Sola whispered, watching from the safety of the doorway. "It's a logical impossibility. The system should be rejecting it."

"The system is rejecting it," Adriana gritted out through clenched teeth. "That's... that's the point."

She began to weave. She didn't use the traditional patterns her mother had taught her. She used the "Illegal Stitches" the Error-Log demonstrated—knots that tied themselves and then untied, loops that went inward and emerged from the outside.

As the threads met, they didn't create a new color. They created a Flicker. A jagged, purple energy that hummed with a sound like tearing metal. It was a "Logic Bomb."
