Elias led Adriana, Caius, and a small group of the "Returned" souls toward the center of Central Park.
They didn't go to the Great Lawn, they headed for Belvedere Castle.
"The Architect thought this was just a decorative folly,"
Elias explained, pressing his Blue Wrench against a specific stone in the castle's foundation.
"But this castle sits on a 'Null Point'
a place where the physical and the digital layers are naturally thin.
My people have been using it as a blind spot for decades."
The stone didn't move it transmuted. The floor beneath them became as liquid as the Sea of Static, and they slipped through the earth.
They emerged into a vast, subterranean hangar.
It smelled of ozone, old leather, and jet fuel.
Parked in the center was a magnificent, impossible machine
a 1940s-style silver fuselage with wings made of shifting, translucent Spirit Threads.
"This is the Icarus-01,"
Elias said with a grin.
"It's a Resonance Skiff.
It doesn't fly on air
it sails on the 'Wind' of human emotion. We've been building it out of the scraps the Architect threw into the Trash Folder."
"It's beautiful," Adriana whispered, touching the silver metal.
As her hand made contact, the wings flared into a brilliant violet, reacting to her Weaver presence.
"It's more than beautiful,"
Caius added, his eyes scanning the ship's "Logic Core."
"It's a weapon.
This ship can travel through the 'Static' between cities without being detected by the Red Grid.
It's our only way to reach the other Resistance cells."
But the peace of the hangar was short-lived.
The ceiling began to vibrate.
Dust shook loose from the cavern walls as a rhythmic, metallic thudding echoed from above.
"The Fixers," Elias hissed, his grip tightening on his Wrench.
"The Overseer Cube must have pinpointed the Null Point before it went into Protected Mode.
They're coming to bury the hangar."
The Fixers weren't like the elegant Overseers.
They were squat, heavy machines shaped like spiders, designed for one purpose ,Compaction.
They didn't delete data
they crushed it into unrecognizable cubes of "Dead Matter."
"We aren't ready to launch!"
a mechanic shouted from the wing of the Icarus.
"The fuel cells are only at 40%!"
Adriana looked at the ceiling, then at the ship.
"The fuel is Resonance, right?
We don't need cells."
She turned to the "Returned" souls who had followed them.
"I need you to remember.
Don't just think ,feel.
Give this ship everything you've been holding onto."
