Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: Relentless pursuit, lingering around!

"When he floored it and crashed into those guys' muscle cars, I thought it would be… you know, like a cupcake?"

"Like squashing a baby's cupcake flat, with the cream oozing out everywhere."

"That's pretty much what I was picturing, but who knew he'd just send them flying."

"And when that guy killed people…"

But before Tallahassee could finish, the metal partition behind him was tapped by Shawn.

"If you want to finish up early and head back, then focus on driving."

It was the first time letting Tallahassee take the wheel, so it was better to keep him in line and play it safe.

But not long after Shawn dropped that line and lay back down in his seat, the car suddenly shook violently.

Shawn was sleeping in the back, so he felt it particularly strongly; the jolt threw him directly to the floor.

Shawn was about to curse him when he heard Daryl's voice from the front.

"Shawn, something's not right. We're being followed."

Hearing this, Shawn quickly got up and looked back through the rearview mirror of the front window.

Just a few seconds after the fire truck rounded a corner, a sedan veered in and followed close behind.

And it wasn't just one car; behind it, the sounds of tires rubbing against the ground during drifts kept coming.

When Shawn looked, the first car following behind started to speed up, came up behind the fire truck, and slammed into the modified metal mesh, clearly with ill intent.

The moment Shawn saw the car, his mind immediately thought of the people he had dealt with.

But after thinking about it, he felt something was off.

In a post-apocalyptic environment, there aren't many cameras or tracking resources available.

Logically, leaving immediately after killing and burning, plus them having gone back and taken a detour, the probability of them being able to follow the road and catch up so quickly should be very low.

But Shawn had no idea that this wasn't precise tracking at all; these people finding the fire truck was merely an accident.

In reality, they didn't have any tracking skills; it was just a simple, crude widespread search.

But no matter what, Shawn looked at Tallahassee in the driver's seat and spoke loudly.

"Tallahassee, it's time to test your driving skills! Get ready to turn around!"

Shawn trusted his first instinct, so he didn't plan on letting these followers go.

There was a crossroads ahead, and Shawn timed it perfectly, speaking the moment the fire truck entered the intersection.

"Now!"

Tallahassee's eyes were serious with a hint of humor; he yanked the steering wheel sharply, and the entire fire truck body swung out like a giant pendulum.

A piercing screech came, leaving a black tire mark on the ground.

The rear of the fire truck began to tilt, and the vehicle was quickly about to flip over.

At the critical moment, Shawn lunged forward with a sudden sword-step, stepping onto the raised side of the vehicle for a'self-sacrificing charge'.

The fire truck, teetering at its balance point, was forcefully knocked back by Shawn, and then, using the vehicle's own weight, the fire truck successfully turned around.

Before the vehicle even stabilized after landing, Tallahassee had already shifted gears again, mimicking Shawn's earlier move, slamming the accelerator and charging towards the car.

The wheels hit the car, perhaps because the speed wasn't fast enough, this time it didn't directly flip it over, but rather climbed up along the car's front bumper.

The vehicle swayed as it rolled over the top of the car, and Shawn seemed to hear the sound of bones shattering coming from outside.

Tallahassee laughed exaggeratedly: "Hahaha, what did I tell you?!"

"Stop showing off, dammit! Get down!!" Merle roared.

Just as the first car was flattened in front of the fire truck, and Tallahassee was about to repeat the trick and crush the second car, a burst of bullets suddenly swept in from the opposite direction.

Tallahassee and Daryl, sitting in the front, could only duck their heads as bullets penetrated through the gaps in the metal mesh of the front windshield.

Tallahassee instinctively stomped on the accelerator, and the fire truck, almost out of control, crashed into the car in front.

The force of the front plow pushed several cars to collide sideways with each other. Shawn, clutching his shotgun, seized the opportunity to push open the door and get out, rolling into an alley on the right side of the street.

Before he even saw anyone, Shawn immediately fired a shot, the gunshot seizing the initiative.

"Don't let them leave!"

Although he didn't know how they found this place, by leaving them all behind, perhaps more enemy pursuit could be avoided.

Even if the opponent's numbers exceeded his own, Shawn's first thought was to eliminate them all.

Gunfire quickly erupted, and everyone from the fire truck got out and found cover, beginning to retaliate.

But they all seemed to have forgotten a crucial factor—Walkers.

From the moment the fire truck's crashing sounds began, Walkers had been continuously gathering and approaching this area.

The constant return fire became a precise GPS for the Walkers; they were swarming in from all directions.

In the street alley, Shawn climbed the emergency fire escape outside the wall to the roof of a small shop, about 5 meters high.

The gun barrel, protruding through the 'Fried Chicken Fast Food' sign, fired continuously, emptying the magazine.

Shawn, adhering to the philosophy that 'a bullet fired is not wasted,' frantically sought angles to unleash his firepower.

After he dodged a burst of bullets swept by the man behind the car and looked up again, he just happened to see over a dozen Walkers staggering closer from not far behind the car.

"Got it."

Shawn's eyes lit up when he saw the Walkers.

"Merle, make some noise!" Shawn shouted at the top of his lungs.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Merle, understanding the hint, pulled out two 'pipe bombs', lit them, and threw them without even looking.

With a 4-second fuse, Merle held it for 1 second, and it exploded with a roar the very next second after being thrown and free-falling.

Two people were affected by the shrapnel, while the remaining people retreated step by step with their guns.

But as soon as they turned around, they encountered Walkers wandering from behind, one biting a person's neck.

Tearing off a piece of flesh with sinew and blood, blood immediately flowed profusely.

At this moment, behind them, a horde of Walkers blocked their path, and in front, Shawn and others were closing in step by step with hot weapons.

These pursuing survivors were immediately cut down by more than half.

After emptying the shotgun chamber once more, Shawn pulled out his Crescent Blade with a backhand, supporting himself with one hand on the wall edge to reduce his distance from the ground, then lightly leaped down.

He quickly caught up using abandoned vehicles on the street, appearing behind the remaining two in two strides.

The Crescent Blade, with an unstoppable momentum, swept horizontally in a sudden slash, passing across the necks of the two men, sending their heads and the head of a Walker beside them flying up together!

"Experience + 300"

Having just experienced a major firefight, the scene was chaotic, and an endless stream of Walkers was closing in from all directions. Shawn decisively decided not to linger.

"Get in the car!"
