Chapter 31 - The Lens of Total Perception

The Silver Ridge Broadcasting Tower (SRBT) stood as a needle of chrome and neon, piercing the low-hanging clouds of the city's skyline. From its summit, every byte of data, every news crawl, and every viral trend was curated and blasted into the minds of millions.

As Rami, Maya, and Solomon stood in the shadows of the lobby's sleek atrium, the Millennium Puzzle didn't hum or glow—it burned. A searing heat radiated from the gold casing, a warning that they were being watched by something that didn't just see, but absorbed.

We are under a microscope, the Pharaoh's voice resonated, tighter and more focused than usual. The Eye does not blink. It looks through the walls, through the skin, and into the very blueprints of our strategy. To move is to be known.

"The entire tower is a giant antenna for the Millennium Eye," Maya whispered, her eyes darting toward the hidden cameras in the ceiling. "I've tried to ghost our signatures, but the moment we stepped into the lobby, the network spiked. Someone knows exactly who is in the elevator."

"That would be Julian Vane," Solomon said, his voice grim. "The CEO of Silver Ridge Media. He doesn't just want the news; he wants the 'exclusive' on the future. With the Eye, he can see every possible outcome of a market crash or a political shift before it happens."

The Executive Suite

The elevator ascended in a blur of motion. When the doors opened on the 100th floor, they weren't met by security guards, but by a wall of television screens. Hundreds of them, each displaying a different angle of Rami's life: his duels, his school lunches, his quiet moments in the shop.

At the end of the hall, sitting behind a desk of polished glass, was Julian Vane. His left eye was covered by a sleek, silver patch, but the right side of his face was dominated by a golden orb embedded directly into his socket—the Millennium Eye.

"Rami," Vane said, his voice smooth and rehearsed. "You're late for your close-up. I've been watching you since the moment you picked up that Puzzle. You have excellent screen presence, but your third act is looking a bit... predictable."

"I'm not here for a show, Vane!" Rami shouted, the gold light of the Puzzle flaring to counter the Eye's invasive stare. "Give up the Eye before you lose more than just your perspective."

"Perspective is all I have," Vane laughed. He stood up, and a Duel Disk made of liquid crystal emerged from his desk. "I've already seen how this duel ends. I've seen every card in your hand, every card in your deck, and the three cards you're going to draw after that. Why fight the inevitable?"

[THE BROADCAST DUEL: RAMI VS. JULIAN VANE]

[Rami: 5000 LP]

[Vane: 5000 LP]

"I'll begin the broadcast!" Vane declared. "I activate the Field Spell: The All-Seeing Network! As long as this card is active, your hand is revealed to me at all times. And I summon Candid-Camera Drone!"

Rami's cards were projected onto the giant screens behind Vane for the whole city to see.

"Now, I activate the Millennium Eye's primary ability: Edit the Script! I choose one card in your hand and force you to trade it for a random card in my deck!"

Rami watched as his Weaver of Veils was pulled from his hand and replaced by a useless Technical Difficulty card.

"I end my turn. I know your next move, Rami. You're going to try to summon a Defender. Don't bother."

Rami reached for his deck. His hand was trembling. It was a terrifying feeling—the absolute loss of privacy. Every thought he had was being broadcast and countered before it could even form.

He sees the 'Now', Rami, the Pharaoh's voice surged, a golden anchor in the static. But he cannot see the 'Hidden'. We must use the static of the city to blind him!

"I draw!"

Rami pulled the card. Vane smiled, already knowing it was The Sandswept Sentinel.

"I summon The Sandswept Sentinel!" Rami yelled.

"Predictable," Vane yawned. "I activate my Trap: Pre-Emptive Cancellation! Since I knew you would summon a Level 4 monster, it is automatically destroyed and you take 1000 damage!"

[Rami: 4000 LP]

"But I'm not done!" Rami's eyes took on a fierce, ancient glow. "I activate the effect of the card you gave me, Vane! Technical Difficulty! When this card is in my hand and I take damage, I can discard it to 'Glitch' the Field Spell for one turn!"

The giant screens in the room exploded into static. The All-Seeing Network flickered and died.

"My eye!" Vane screamed, clutching his face as the golden orb let out a high-pitched whine. "The feed! I can't see the future!"

"Now!" Rami shouted. "I activate the Spell: Director's Cut! Since your network is down, I can Special Summon one monster from my deck that was never seen in your archives! Rise, The Anonymous Avenger!"

A warrior appeared, his armor made of unpolished iron, his face hidden by a mask of shifting smoke.

"The Avenger has an attack value that is 'Unknown' to your systems, Vane! He gains 1000 attack for every 'Millennium' item I've already secured!"

"Three items!" Rami pointed. "The Key, the Scale, and the Puzzle itself!"

[Anonymous Avenger: ??? -> 3000 ATK]

"Attack him directly! Blind-Spot Blitz!"

The warrior moved with a speed that the cameras couldn't track, slamming into Vane and throwing him through his glass desk.

[Vane: 5000 -> 2000 LP]

"I... I can still see..." Vane scrambled up, his eye glowing a frantic, jagged red. "I summon Master of the Airwaves! And I activate—"

"You activate nothing!" Rami interrupted. "I activate the Union ability of my Sentinel from the graveyard! By banishing it, I equip my Avenger with The Shield of the Unseen! It negates all monster effects that target my field!"

"Avenger! Final Broadcast!"

The smoke-masked warrior lunged again, his blade shattering Vane's liquid crystal disk and sending a wave of golden energy through the broadcasting tower.

[Vane: 0 LP]

The screens went black. The All-Seeing Network was offline. The Millennium Eye fell from Vane's socket, rolling across the floor like a golden marble until it stopped at Rami's feet.

Rami picked it up. The Eye was cold now, its iris closed.

"The truth doesn't need a broadcast, Vane," Rami said, looking down at the defeated mogul. "It just needs to be lived."

A sharp, resonant click sounded from Rami's satchel. He opened the wooden box and saw three pieces move, locking into the center-left of the Puzzle.

[6 PIECES REMAINING]

"Six," Rami whispered.

Solomon walked over, looking out at the city lights. "We have the Mind, the Heart, the Law, and the Sight. But the Millennium Ring is still out there, Rami. And the person who holds it isn't looking for power. They're looking for chaos."

Rami gripped the Puzzle. The Ring is the shadow, the Pharaoh said. And it is hunting us.
