Chapter 60 - New Jutsu, pt 2

(June, year 54 AK)

...

"You seem a little down today, is something happened?" Yuta asked Shisui as they were alone in the secluded area of the training grounds.

"Well, you could say that. It's the clan. I don't think it would be long before it all spirals out of control..." Shisui said with some worry in his voice.

...

"Sigh, you still hesitate to take action and suppress the coup movements inside the clan by force..." Yuta sighed and commented tiredly, "What else you could do at this point? You might want to use the Kotoamatsukami to control the clan head, but I already told you that he is not actually in support of the coup, and it would be a waste to use up your one-shot at Kotoamatsukami on him. But he also lacks decisiveness and likely won't act to forcefully suppress the coup movements in the clan, and those radicals in the clan can't be reasoned with, but you must've already known all of that, Shisui."

"The clan is not the only problem." Shisui said heavily.

...

"The village, huh, and Danzo behind it fanning the flames..." Yuta said deep in thoughts.

'Damn.' Yuta thought, 'When I wanted to try and save the Uchiha clan, my initial idea was to push Shisui to use his Kotoamatsukami on Danzo, and then wait and see what happens and work something out after that. But I guess I can't convince him to do that. If Danzo is to fall under our control, we could force him to deescalate the tension from the village's side and eventually take the blame for everything, exposing his Sharingan-implanted arm and then get rid of him for good. After that, suppressing the radicals in the clan won't be a big issue for Shisui and everything could be resolved.'

'But I guess I can't just say to Shisui "don't worry, bro, just go for it and if something goes wrong, then I'll reverse the time and we will try something else...". He just won't act drastically unless he believes that it's the only option, huh. In the original story he waited for the last moment as well.'

"You had told me about the rogue Uchiha with the Mangekyo Sharingan, that was responsible for the Nine-Tails incident." Shisui said slowly, "Could you tell me more about him?"

"You hope to capture that guy to shift the blame for the Nine-Tails incident?" Yuta immediately figured out Shisui's intentions, as he thought, 'That would be the ideal solution, or at least that what he might think, but Obito is just another huge can of worms that would be best to be left alone for the time being. And it's unlikely that he could be captured that easily, he is probably the number one ninja in the world when it comes to escape, comparable to Orochimaru when it comes to survival.'

"That would be ideal, but just knowing more about him would also help." Shisui said.

'Sigh. Back in the academy days this whole idea of saving Uchiha looked so much simpler than it is now, it's mind-boggling of how complex and difficult it has become... I thought that solving this with Shisui's strength and my time-travel would be easy... It's almost looked like this whole situation was orchestrated by someone, carefully and meticulously... Maybe it's because it was! Obito was behind the Nine-Tails incident, and then he is the one who helps Itachi to slaughter the clan members and takes Itachi into Akatsuki in the original story...'

'That... makes much more sense now... Wait a minute, there was an event when Obito visited the Uchiha clan's grounds and met with Itachi, and it led to Itachi asking Obito for help with extermination, that meeting wasn't a coincidence either. Ah, Obito, you slick fuck, you planned everything from the start and even observed how Uchiha clan was approaching its doom over the years. Or it was rather Black Zetsu who planted those ideas into Obito's mind, manipulating him into doing all of that.'

...

'Why did I not realize all of it sooner? This complicates things. I didn't account for Obito and Black Zetsu manipulating the events around the Uchiha clan from the shadows...'

"So, do you know anything that could be helpful?" Shisui asked after observing Yuta who was being deep in thought for a while now.

'If Obito is a major player at the events around the Uchiha clan, I can't keep withholding the information about him from Shisui, he has to know to have any chance at beating Obito and his schemes. If this going to led to a major problem later on, I always will be able to reverse it.'

"Yes, and although I believe it is not the time to go against him, and I don't think even you will have a good chance of capturing him, I think you have to know more about the guy." Yuta finally said after coming to a decision, "He calls himself Madara Uchiha, but he is not him. His real name is Obi..." As Yuta was about to say the name, the explosion suddenly went out somewhere nearby, and Yuta heard a scream that likely belongs to Hikari.

"Stay behind." Shisui quickly commanded and flickered in the direction that the sound of a scream and an explosion came from, when Yuta looked in that direction, he figured that it was where he left Itachi and Hikari.

'What is going on?' Yuta was only able to think, as he felt someone grabbed him by the neck from behind and everything went black and his consciousness instantly faded.

...

"Kha..." Yuta screeched as he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen.

Yuta opened his eyes, his mind was in a disarray, he looked down and sow someone's fist retracting from his stomach, the pain he felt was from a punch to the guts, he figured, then he noticed another hand that was holding him by the neck with a firm grip and a lot of pressure that he could only barely breath.

As Yuta looked up, he noticed an uncanny and unnatural environment, he saw multiple cube-shaped stone-looking platforms around and the area was quite dark, and the sky was pitch-black with no stars.

'Kamui...' Yuta thought as he looked at the man who was holding him in the air by the throat, black clothes, black gloves, black hair and an orange mask with black patterns and one eye hole, 'Obito... Fuck...'

...

"Yuta Arai. Genin. Teammate of Shisui Uchiha." The man said in a deep and slow voice.

The next moment, before Yuta could react after his consciousness returned a moment ago, and his mind is still not functioning properly, Yuta suddenly felt how his mind suddenly became sluggish and he lost control over his body.

'Genjutsu... Sharingan Genjutsu...' Yuta thought as his mind almost completely shut down, and only a tiny sliver of his will and consciousness remained, continuing to observe what's going on, but not enough to even begin to resist.

'Chakra... must disrupt chakra...' Yuta was only able to think with his clouded mind, unable to comprehend that he wouldn't be able to break this genjutsu even if he could master all of his will and chakra to do so... The only salvation, that is to get back into his mindscape and initiate the time-travel, stayed out of his reach, since his mind was too clouded and hazy in the result of a genjutsu to figure the way out.

"Now explain to me, how a pathetic little Genin like you, could possibly know anything about me, Madara Uchiha?" Obito asked overbearingly as he tightened his grip over Yuta's throat.

"...I knew everything about you, Obito Uchiha, from the very beginning..." Yuta starts to speak slowly in a monotonous voice, against his own will.

As Yuta was saying those words like a robot, he felt despair with his only functioning sliver of consciousness that remains awake at the moment.

'This... is not good... If he learns about... time-travel... he'll find a way to counter it... and I will be finished...' Yuta's thoughts were turning slowly with a creak, like rusty gears in a broken clock.

"...I... I knew... from the beginning... from when I was a child... from when I was four years old..." Yuta continued to speak monotonously.

'No, I have to stop this... I need something... Anything... My mind... I need to clear my mind...' As Yuta thought that, he subconsciously associated that need with the calm state from the River of Time, 'That's it!' Yuta thought as he subconsciously tried to enter his mindscape.

Yuta felt that his efforts were not enough to reach the mindscape, so the influence of the River of Time could help him. He felt that his focus was too hazy and slippery, he wasn't able to concentrate properly to enter his own mindscape, the action that always was easy and instantaneous for Yuta, now felt impossible to achieve.

As Yuta started to panic, with the last ditch effort he tried to reach the River of Time itself and channel it's calming effects onto himself without entering the mindscape, and when he did so, he felt the soothing cold was washing over him and his mind, bringing the relief and with it, also clarity.

'I did it.' Yuta thought as his mind quickly became crystal-clear and full-awake. Yuta instantly noticed that this unnaturally calm state allows him to partially ignore the effects of a powerful genjutsu that was affecting him.

Yuta was still under the genjutsu and he still speaking against his own will, but his mind is no longer affected by the genjutsu itself and he was able to think clearly, even if he still wasn't able to move his body or stop it from obeying Obito's command to speak the truth.

'Now I'm able to escape into my mindscape and initiate the time-travel at any moment. I won't be caught again by such tactics in the future.' Yuta calmly analyzed as he observed the scene indifferently, 'When I was about to tell everything to Shisui, Obito or Zetsu must be monitoring us, Zetsu is hard to detect, no wonder neither me nor Shisui noticed that we are being watched. Then Obito reacted quickly to the possible intel spillage, he distracted Shisui and captured me and dragged me into his Kamui dimension with his MS ability to interrogate.'

'Well, this went south very fast...'

'But there is something else that is off here - why am I not telling Obito about my past life and the original Naruto story yet? All that my body, being controlled by Obito's genjutsu could say, is that I knew everything from when I was four years old... Is there something that prevents me from actually spilling any information about my previous life and world? I wasn't aware about that...'

"From when you were four? That doesn't make any sense. How exactly you came to know about my true identity?" Obito asked while emitting even more pressure than before.

"...I ...I knew everything from when I turned four years old..." Yuta said monotonously.

"What is this nonsense? My genjutsu is still working properly. Maybe someone had planted this knowledge into this child... But who could've possibly been able to do that? And for what reason?" Obito mumbled, speaking to himself, while Yuta's mind was focused on him, calmly observing and analyzing his every word and every move, being on guard to react instantly if something happens.

"...I knew from the beginning..." Yuta continued to mumble monotonously, his eyes bleak, devoid of any thought.

'He still didn't notice my abnormal state and that his genjutsu does not have complete control over me anymore. I can use this opportunity to better understand his plans, he might slip up some useful information since he clearly doesn't intent on letting me live after this.' Yuta thought, his mind focused, calm, calculating and devoid of any emotions and fear...

--- AN ---

The title for the chapter is quite misleading, "New Jutsu, pt 2", while the new jutsu was not even on the horizon yet, that's quite funny.

True title for the chapter - "I was careless and now I'm gonna pay for it, pt 2"

Maybe the Akatsuki route is unlocked? Who knows...

Anyway, I feel like the Uchiha clan's arc was dragging long enough and needs to end soon, but it will still be a while until the resolution, I think.
