Just as Daniel had expected, the universities in the capital did not reject Northstar's proposal at all. In fact, most of them welcomed it.
Northstar Games already had a strong name in the industry. Its reputation was solid, its projects were famous, and many schools were eager to build a connection with the company. Some even hoped that if relations stayed good, their computer science students might one day get internships or full-time jobs at Northstar.
Because of that, Ethan Reed and Daniel managed to visit seven universities in the capital in a single afternoon. Once people heard that North River University and North Ridge had already agreed to join the experiment, the remaining schools naturally stopped hesitating. After all, if those two leading universities were willing to participate, then how dangerous could the project really be?
Would those top schools really walk into a trap first?
Of course not.
So one after another, the schools agreed.
Online, however, the story became even livelier.
Students who loved gossip had already taken photos of Ethan appearing on campus and quickly uploaded them. In no time, the internet was full of discussion.
"Ethan Reed actually came to our school? No way. He's way more handsome in real life!"
"The guy above sounds way too excited."
"Our professor said he came here to talk business."
"Business? Northstar is a game company. Why would they come to universities unless they were recruiting?"
"Maybe they really are recruiting early. Northstar loves young talent."
"No, no, our department teacher said we'll be able to use student ID accounts soon. Something about walking, taking photos, and earning money."
"Wait, earning money?"
"I heard it's tied to a game. I can't say more, but you all get it."
The rumors spread fast. Photos of Ethan from different campuses circulated everywhere, and some passionate fans even tried to follow his route offline, hoping to catch him at the next university. Sadly for them, Ethan and Daniel were moving too fast. Every time they arrived at a school, they went straight to the administrative office, finished their meeting, then immediately left for the next stop in a taxi.
They never stayed long enough for fans to surround them.
By evening, people had begun predicting where Ethan might appear next, but instead of visiting another school, he simply returned to the hotel to rest.
That night, they had dinner together.
The group included Ethan, Daniel, Sienna, and the legal team. The meal was at a very expensive restaurant, the kind of place that prided itself on elegance, presentation, and a bill sharp enough to hurt.
Ethan did not mind.
If he was traveling for work, then he had no intention of treating himself badly.
This was a business trip. That mattered.
As the dishes were served one after another, Sienna looked at him and asked, "Brother, how many days are you staying in the capital this time?"
"I'm leaving tomorrow," Ethan replied. "The flight to Magic City is tomorrow afternoon."
"Oh."
That was all she said before lowering her head and going back to her food.
Ethan stared at her for a second, then said helplessly, "I'm leaving tomorrow, and that's your reaction? Aren't you supposed to try to make me stay?"
Sienna shook her head while chewing on a piece of braised pork trotter.
"No. I have class tomorrow morning. And you're not here for fun. If you were here to relax, I'd skip class and show you around. It's your first time here, right? There are plenty of places worth seeing. But honestly, don't get too excited about the local specialty dishes. They're not always easy for outsiders."
A member of the legal team, Zach, spoke up with interest. "Really? But I watch food videos on BiliZone all the time. Braised offal looks pretty good."
Daniel laughed.
"That depends on the person," he said. "A lot of famous local dishes here have very strong flavors. If you love them, you really love them. If you don't, even one bite feels like punishment."
He began listing examples with the confidence of someone who had lived in the capital for years. Some dishes were famous, but not exactly friendly to tourists. Others, like roast duck, lamb hot pot, sweet cheese, and meat pies, were much easier for newcomers to enjoy.
Listening to him describe them made Ethan hungry all over again.
Still, he waved the topic away. "We'll try those next time. Tomorrow we fly to Magic City, and the day after that, we head to Linan Arcology."
Daniel nodded with a smile. "The company already booked everything."
He had a lot on his plate. Once this week's arrangements were finished, Pokémon Go could begin its first university trial run.
The first test locations had already been chosen: the capital, Magic City, and Linan Arcology.
The choice was not random. These were places where gaming culture was already strong, where young players were active, and where new trends could spread quickly. If Pokémon Go was going to take root, these cities were the perfect soil.
Before leaving the restaurant, Sienna suddenly turned to Ethan.
"When the new game comes out, can I join the test too?"
Ethan looked at her and laughed. "Of course. If you want to play, then play. You only need a phone."
Then he added, with a slightly strange smile, "Though this game does require… a lot of activity."
Sienna frowned.
"A lot of activity?"
She did not understand at all.
The project had been kept quiet inside the company, mostly because approval had been difficult and Ethan did not want the details leaking out too early. Even many people inside Northstar only knew that Daniel was secretly working on a major new game. They did not know what kind of game it was.
Sienna tilted her head. "What do you mean? Do you mean lots of daily tasks? Or constant events? Is it one of those games that forces you to grind all day?"
Ethan laughed.
"No. I mean physical activity. Literally."
Sienna stared at him.
A game… that required physical effort?
Even after she got in the car and returned to the dorm, she still could not understand what he meant.
The moment she stepped inside, however, she lost all chance to think clearly.
Hannah Stone suddenly let out a dramatic scream, jumped off her bed, and snatched the food bag from Sienna's hands. At the same time, Emma Vale and the third roommate rushed over.
"Sienna! Is this for us?"
"Yes," Sienna said. "Untouched. I packed it specially for you."
Hannah nearly burst with joy.
The takeout was from the same expensive restaurant, and just those extra dishes alone had cost a small fortune. Sienna would never have ordered something like that on her own. But when Ethan was paying, she had no intention of pretending to be modest.
After all, if he was going to spend, then she might as well make full use of it.
As they happily unpacked the food, Emma turned to her. "By the way, is your brother coming to school tomorrow?"
"No. Why?"
"Some senior students in our department want to meet him. They worked on a game with Skybound before, so they probably want to connect with him through you. Maybe they want to join Northstar."
Hannah immediately cut in while chewing. "If they want to join Northstar, they should apply properly. No shortcuts."
Then she remembered something else.
"Oh, right. The teacher announced today that Northstar's event is coming to campus soon. Students who want to join can register with their student ID and get access accounts. Should we do it?"
"Of course," Sienna said without hesitation.
Hannah looked uncertain. "But I'm not really into games."
Sienna crossed her arms. "Registering costs you nothing. Just treat it as support for my brother."
Then she pointed at the food Hannah was eating.
"And remember, the food in your hand was bought with my brother's money."
Hannah swallowed and nodded immediately. "Fair enough. I'll sign up."
That night, while the others ate and chatted, Sienna lay in bed staring at the ceiling.
What kind of game makes players move around in real life?
She still had no answer.

The next three days passed in a blur of flights, taxis, meetings, and universities.
The first day in the capital had gone well enough. By the evening of the second day, though, Ethan was already exhausted. Daniel handled it better. He was used to travel, used to long flights and packed schedules. Ethan was not.
For the last two years, he had spent most of his time in a small office with Vivian Frost, buried in work. His daily movement was pathetic. Some days he probably did not even reach two thousand steps.
Now suddenly he was walking nearly twenty thousand steps a day, rushing through airports, entering and leaving campuses, and talking nonstop.
His body hated it.
By the time they finished their work in Linan Arcology on the third day, Ethan felt like his soul had left him behind somewhere in an airport lounge.
But the important part was this:
The preparations were complete.
That night, the team boarded a plane back to Lumen City. The trip would take about two and a half hours, and Ethan wanted only one thing in the world—his own bed.
No hotel, no matter how soft or expensive, ever felt right to him.
During the flight, Daniel leaned toward him, clearly unable to hide his excitement.
"We're going back tonight. Tomorrow morning we finalize everything. By tomorrow afternoon, the first batch of players can enter the test."
His eyes were shining.
And honestly, he had every reason to be proud.
Pokémon Go was unlike anything else on the market. It mixed real-world exploration, AR capture, creature collection, training, and social interaction into one system. On top of that, it had the power of the Pokémon name behind it.
This was not just another game. It was something that could become a landmark in the industry.
If Ethan was already viewed as a legendary producer, then Daniel was rising fast in his own right. His name was beginning to appear again and again in major game credits, and people in the industry were paying attention. If he ever wanted to leave and start his own team, studios across the country would compete for him.
But Daniel had no interest in leaving.
Not when something this big was about to happen.
---
The next day, after lunch, Hannah woke up alone in the dorm.
The room was quiet. Her roommates were all out.
She picked up her phone and looked at the strange new app she had installed that morning. Sienna had helped her register and get access using her student ID, but Hannah still had no idea what the software actually was.
"It's a game," Sienna had said.
But what kind of game used a symbol like that? A magnifying glass over a ball? It made no sense.
Curious, Hannah tapped the icon and logged in.
This time, it opened.
She blinked as a map appeared.
At first she did not understand what she was looking at. Then recognition hit her.
"Wait… this is our campus?"
She zoomed in.
And then she froze.
Near her location, on the bed in the room shown through the phone screen, stood a tiny blue creature.
"A Squirtle?"
Hannah's mouth dropped open.
It looked unbelievably real. Not like a simple flat image, but like a living creature standing right there in her room. For one wild second, she truly felt like a real Squirtle had appeared beside her.
She even reached out.
Of course, her fingers touched nothing.
Then the Squirtle turned, looked at her with wide wet eyes, and cried out.
"Squirtle! Squirtle!"
Hannah almost screamed.
On the screen, a Poké Ball appeared. She tapped it and felt her heartbeat rise. The ball followed her finger. When she moved it, the Squirtle leaned back nervously, waving its little arms.
Hannah released her finger.
The Poké Ball flew.
It struck the Squirtle.
A flash, a shake, and then—
"Successfully captured Squirtle."
A beginner guide popped up immediately after.
Hannah stared at it, breathless, then switched to the map view.
And there, all around the dorm building—
Hundreds upon hundreds of player markers.
Inside a two-kilometer radius, the map was packed.
"What…?"
She did not even bother changing properly. In slippers, she rushed downstairs.
The scene outside stunned her even more.
Groups of students were everywhere, phones in hand, walking fast, taking photos, shouting excitedly to one another.
"Pokémon are spawning near the cafeteria!"
"There are Psyduck by the pond!"
"Has anyone seen Eevee?"
"How do we get Pikachu?"
The whole campus looked transformed.
No one was forcing them outside.
No one was paying them yet.
They came willingly.
Because Pokémon had appeared in the real world.
And as students uploaded recordings online, the internet exploded.
Everyone who saw it lost their minds.
Northstar had done the impossible.
They had brought Pokémon into reality.
And the whole country could only ask one thing—
Northstar: Do you like my real-world Pokémon?
