Minnie POV
The next morning, I woke up in a panic when I realized my alarm hadn't gone off. I quickly got ready because I didn't want Will to pick me up from home again. There were already enough rumors in the office, and I didn't want to give people another reason to talk. After grabbing my bag, I sent Will a message saying I was already on my way to work. On the way, I bought a sandwich from a bakery and ate it on the bus. When I arrived at the office, I greeted Caroline and Nova before taking my seat. Without realizing it, my eyes drifted toward Will's cabin door, wondering if he had arrived yet. Nova immediately noticed and leaned closer with a teasing smile.
"Looking for our boss, Minnie?" he whispered.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "No, I'm not."
Nova laughed. "Really? You and the boss went home together yesterday, but today you came early and he's not here. Very suspicious."
"Nova, stop it and let's work," I replied, trying to hide my embarrassment.
He chuckled and sad "Fine. Print the Sky Wings agreement. We need to show it to Will before tomorrow's meeting with Mr. Smith."
I nodded and opened my computer. But within seconds, my confidence disappeared. The agreement folder wasn't there. I searched again. Then again. I checked every folder on my desktop, every drive, every possible location. My hands started trembling. "No... no, no..." I whispered. I checked the Recycle Bin, hoping I had accidentally deleted it, but it wasn't there either. Panic washed over me.
I immediately rushed to Nova. He took one look at my face and frowned.
"Minnie, what's wrong?"
I bit my lower lip nervously. "Nova... I can't find the agreement file."
His eyes widened. "What?"
"I saved it yesterday. I know I did. But now it's gone."
Nova quickly sat at my computer and searched everywhere. We spent several long minutes checking every possible folder, hoping it would magically appear. Finally, he turned toward me and slowly shook his head. The file was really gone.
Before either of us could say anything else, Nova's desk phone rang. He answered it and nodded. "Yes, sir." A moment later, he hung up and sighed heavily.
"Will wants the agreement."
My heart sank immediately.
Seeing how nervous I was, Nova placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Minnie, it's okay. We still have time before tomorrow's meeting. We'll explain everything and prepare it again."
I nodded weakly and followed him to Will's cabin. My stomach twisted with every step.
"Come in."
Will looked up from his desk. The moment he saw me, a small smile appeared on his face, but it disappeared when he noticed how nervous I looked.
"So, where's the agreement?" he asked.
Before I could answer, Nova stepped forward. "Sir, about the agreement... we're really sorry. We completed it yesterday, but this morning the file was missing."
I immediately looked at him. Why was he taking the blame for my mistake?
Will's expression darkened. "What are you saying, Nova?" His voice became sharp. "That agreement is one of the most important projects in this company. I trusted you both to handle it."
Guilt crushed my chest. I couldn't let Nova take responsibility for something I had done.
"It's not Nova's fault," I said quickly. "I saved the file on my desktop. This happened because of me."
The room fell silent.
Will stared at me for a long moment before sighing heavily. "Ms. Minnie."
The formal way he addressed me instantly made my heart sink.
"I'm really disappointed in you."
Those words hurt more than I expected.
"Do you understand how important this agreement is?" he continued. "We've spent months preparing for this deal. A single mistake like this could put everything at risk. How could you be so careless?"
I lowered my head and whispered, "I'm sorry, sir."
But he wasn't finished.
"Just because you're my girlfriend doesn't mean you can make mistakes and expect special treatment."
My breathing stopped.
For a moment, I couldn't even look at him.
The man who had held me in his arms yesterday... the man who called me "Love"... the man who promised he wouldn't hurt me again...
Was now standing in front of me as my boss.
And somehow, that hurt even more.
A tear escaped my eye before I could stop it. I quickly wiped it away, hoping no one noticed.
Nova immediately stepped forward. "Sir, we still have time. By the end of today we can prepare the agreement again."
Will didn't even look at him.
"It's her responsibility," he said coldly. "Let her fix it."
Then his eyes met mine.
"Prepare the agreement again, Minnie."
I nodded silently.
"I understand, sir."
Without saying another word, I turned and left the cabin. The moment the door closed behind me, I let out the breath I had been holding. My eyes burned with tears, and my chest felt heavy. I knew I had made a mistake. I knew I deserved to be scolded. But what hurt the most wasn't his anger.
He looked at me like I was just another employee.
And that broke my heart.
Nova POV
I watched Minnie leave the cabin, her eyes red and filled with tears she was trying so hard to hide.
The moment the door closed behind her, I turned toward Will.
He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes as if nothing had happened.
That made me even angrier.
"Will, what was that?" I asked.
He didn't answer.
I took a deep breath and tried again.
"You guys just got back together. Why are you talking to her like that? We still have time to prepare the agreement."
Will slowly opened his eyes.
"Just shut up, Nova," he said coldly. "I know what I'm doing."
His answer only made my blood boil.
"No, you don't," I snapped.
His eyes immediately met mine.
I rarely raised my voice at him.
In fact, almost never.
But today was different.
"Do you know how she looked when she left this room?" I continued. "She looked heartbroken, Will."
He clenched his jaw.
"She made a mistake."
"Yes, she did!" I shouted. "But Minnie isn't careless. I've worked with her. She checks everything twice before submitting it."
Will looked away.
I stepped closer to his desk.
"You're angry about the agreement. Fine. But don't take it out on her like that."
His expression darkened.
"Nova, enough."
"No."
The word came out stronger than I intended.
For a moment, the cabin became completely silent.
Then I pointed toward the door.
"That girl loves you more than anyone in this company."
Will's jaw tightened.
"And what did you do? You made her cry."
His eyes flashed with anger.
"Get out."
I laughed bitterly.
"See? That's exactly the problem. Whenever someone tells you the truth, you get angry."
Will suddenly stood up from his chair.
"Nova!"
His voice echoed through the cabin.
But I wasn't backing down.
We had been friends since childhood.
I wasn't one of his employees.
I was the only person who could call him out when he was wrong.
"You know what?" I said. "I don't believe this was Minnie's fault."
Will frowned.
"What?"
I crossed my arms.
"The file didn't just disappear."
He stared at me silently.
"I checked her system."
Now he was listening.
"It doesn't look like someone accidentally deleted it. And it definitely doesn't look like Minnie lost it."
I could see the doubt appearing in his eyes.
"Someone deleted that file."
Will's expression hardened.
"Do you have proof?"
"Not yet."
I turned toward the door.
"But I'm going to find it."
Will didn't say anything.
I paused before leaving.
Then I looked back at him.
"And when I prove Minnie is innocent..."
His eyes met mine.
"...you're going to have to apologize to her."
I left the cabin without waiting for an answer.
When I reached Minnie's desk, she wasn't there.
I sighed heavily.
She was probably hiding somewhere trying not to cry.
That thought made me even angrier.
I immediately headed toward the security room.
If the file wasn't deleted from outside...
Then someone inside the company had done it.
And whoever framed Minnie...
Was about to have the worst day of their life.
Minnie POV
I stood alone on the terrace, staring at the beautiful Paris skyline. Usually, the view calmed me down, but today it did nothing to ease the ache in my chest.
I crossed my arms and sighed heavily.
"I know I made a mistake," I muttered to myself. "But did he really have to say it like that?"
The more I thought about Will's words, the more upset I became.
"Just because you're my girlfriend doesn't mean I'll forgive your mistakes."
I kicked a small pebble across the terrace.
"Idiot."
A few employees walking nearby turned to look at me.
I immediately pretended to admire the view.
"Yes... beautiful weather today," I said awkwardly.
The employees exchanged confused looks before walking away.
I groaned and covered my face.
"Great, Minnie. Now they think you're crazy too."
After taking a deep breath, I checked my watch.
11:00 AM.
I didn't have time to feel sorry for myself.
Tomorrow's meeting was too important.
I had to fix my mistake.
I closed my eyes and tried to remember every change Nova and I had made to the agreement yesterday.
Thankfully, my memory was still working better than my luck.
I returned to my desk and noticed Nova wasn't there.
I frowned.
Where did he disappear to?
Before I could think about it further, Caroline suddenly appeared beside me.
"Minnie... are you okay?" she asked softly.
I looked at her.
Her expression was full of concern.
"I'm fine."
She narrowed her eyes immediately.
"That's exactly what people say before crying."
I sighed.
"I'm really okay."
Caroline stared at me for a few seconds before speaking again.
"Then come to my house tonight."
I blinked.
"What?"
"My parents aren't home tonight, and I don't want to stay alone."
I narrowed my eyes suspiciously.
"Caroline..."
"Yes?"
"I like men."
For a second, silence filled the room.
Then Caroline burst into laughter so loudly that several employees turned around.
"Minnie!" she laughed. "What is wrong with you?"
I looked at her innocently.
"You asked me to spend the night with you."
"I meant a girls' night!"
She continued laughing.
"Movies! Snacks! Gossip!"
I covered my face in embarrassment.
"Oh..."
Caroline pointed at me dramatically.
"You seriously thought I was confessing?"
I buried my face in my hands.
"Can we pretend this conversation never happened?"
"No."
"Caroline."
"Absolutely not."
I groaned.
Great.
Now she would tease me forever.
Thankfully, she finally stopped laughing.
"I just don't have many close friends," she admitted softly. "And I don't want to be alone tonight."
My expression softened.
I smiled.
"Okay. I'll come."
Her face immediately lit up.
The rest of the day passed quickly.
I attended calls, completed reports, arranged meetings, and most importantly—
Recreated the entire agreement.
By late evening, my shoulders hurt, my eyes were tired, and my brain felt completely exhausted.
But I had done it.
I finished the agreement.
I looked up when I heard Caroline's voice.
"You still alive?"
"Barely."
She laughed.
Throughout the day, I only saw Will a few times.
Once during the afternoon.
He was walking toward another meeting.
For a brief moment, our eyes met.
My heart immediately reacted.
But before I could say anything—
He looked away first.
As if I wasn't even there.
That hurt more than I wanted to admit.
I lowered my head and focused on work.
Maybe he was still angry.
By evening, I handed the completed agreement to Nova.
He quickly reviewed it before looking at me with a proud smile.
"I am so lucky to have an assistant like you."
I blinked.
"What?"
"Seriously, Minnie. Recreating this entire agreement is impressive."
A small smile appeared on my face.
"Thank you."
Nova grinned.
"Let's go show it to that guy."
I knew exactly who "that guy" was.
We entered Will's cabin.
Nova handed him the file.
Will carefully reviewed every page.
The silence felt endless.
Finally, he closed the file.
"Good."
One word.
Just one.
But somehow, hearing his approval eased a small part of my heart.
Then his eyes met mine.
For a second—
Neither of us spoke.
Nova suddenly stood up.
"Okay, we're leaving. Tomorrow I'll come pick you up for the meeting."
Will nodded.
Then he looked directly at me.
"Minnie, I'll drop you home."
My heart betrayed me instantly.
For one stupid second—
I wanted to say yes.
I wanted things to go back to normal.
But then I remembered his cold voice.
His disappointment.
The tears I cried because of him.
I took a slow breath.
"It's okay, Mr. Will."
The formal title made his expression change immediately.
"I have some work to do, so I'll leave by myself."
The cabin became silent.
Will stared at me.
Speechless.
I knew those words hurt him.
I could see it in his eyes.
But I was hurting too.
Maybe even more.
Without waiting for a response, I turned around and walked away.
When I reached the door, I almost looked back.
Almost.
But I stopped myself.
Instead, I walked out of the cabin.
A few minutes later, Caroline and I left the office together.
As we entered the elevator, she looked at me carefully.
Then she smiled.
"Relationship fight?"
I nearly choked.
"What relationship?"
Caroline rolled her eyes.
"Minnie."
I sighed.
Maybe tonight's girls' night was exactly what I needed.
By the time Caroline and I reached her house, I was completely exhausted. My body was tired from work, and my mind was even more exhausted from everything that had happened with Will. The moment we entered her house, Caroline threw her bag onto the sofa and stretched dramatically. "Welcome to Girls' Night!" she announced proudly. I looked around the empty living room and laughed. "It's literally just the two of us." Caroline pointed at me seriously. "Exactly. Less people, more snacks." Before I could reply, she disappeared into the kitchen and returned carrying chips, popcorn, chocolates, cookies, and two cans of soda. I stared at the mountain of food on the table. "Caroline, are we having dinner or preparing for winter?" She burst out laughing and handed me a soda.
After changing into comfortable clothes, we settled on the sofa and started watching a movie. For the first half hour everything was peaceful. Too peaceful. That should have warned me. Suddenly Caroline muted the television and slowly turned toward me with a suspicious smile. I immediately narrowed my eyes. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She shrugged innocently. "No reason." I groaned. "Caroline." Her smile widened. "Fine. I have a question." I already knew I wasn't going to like it. She leaned closer and asked, "What's going on between you and Mr. Will?" I nearly choked on my drink. "What?" Caroline pointed at me dramatically. "See! That's exactly the reaction I'm talking about." I tried to act normal. "There's nothing going on." She rolled her eyes. "Minnie, every time someone mentions his name, you either blush, panic, smile, or suddenly become very interested in your computer screen." I covered my face with a pillow. "You're imagining things." Caroline laughed. "No, I'm not."
For a moment, she studied my face before asking softly, "Do you like him?" My heart immediately skipped a beat. Suddenly every memory of Will flashed through my mind—his smile, his hugs, his kisses, the way he called me Love, and unfortunately, the way he had scolded me that morning. My silence answered her question before I could. Caroline's eyes widened. "Oh my God." I looked away. "Oh my God!" she repeated louder. "Caroline, lower your voice!" I whispered urgently. She grabbed my shoulders dramatically. "You like him!" I sighed heavily. "It's complicated." Her eyes became even bigger. "Wait... are you two together?" I hesitated. I had promised Will that we would keep our relationship private for now. But Caroline wasn't just a coworker anymore. She had become my friend. And honestly, after everything that happened today, I needed someone to talk to.
Taking a deep breath, I slowly nodded.
For a full five seconds Caroline just stared at me. Then she screamed so loudly that I almost dropped my soda. I immediately covered her mouth. "Caroline!" She pulled my hand away and whispered loudly, "YOU AND MR. WILL?" I buried my face in a pillow, completely embarrassed. "Yes." Caroline started jumping on the sofa like an excited child. "I knew it! I knew it!" she shouted. After calming down slightly, she demanded every detail. "Start talking right now." So I did. I told her everything—from how Will and I met, how we fell in love, how things fell apart between us, and how we somehow found our way back to each other. By the time I finished, Caroline was sitting completely silent.
Then suddenly she picked up a pillow and threw it directly at my face.
"Ow!" I complained.
"That was for not telling me earlier."
I laughed. "I couldn't."
"You should have tried."
We both laughed before she suddenly became serious again.
"Wait a minute." She pointed at me accusingly. "Yesterday you went home with him. Today he offered to drive you home. And this morning he practically looked ready to fight someone."
I frowned. "What are you talking about?"
Caroline smirked knowingly. "Minnie, he wasn't angry because you lost the agreement."
I blinked. "What?"
"He was angry because he was disappointed."
I looked down at my hands.
"He trusted you," Caroline continued softly. "That's why it affected him so much."
I sighed. "Maybe. But he hurt me."
Caroline nodded. "I know."
For a moment neither of us spoke.
Then she added, "But let's be honest, you hurt him too."
I looked up immediately.
"What?"
She crossed her arms. "You called him 'Mr. Will' this evening."
I froze.
"Oh."
"Exactly."
I remembered the expression on Will's face when I refused his offer to drive me home. At the time I wanted him to understand how hurt I felt. But now... maybe I had hurt him too.
Caroline sighed dramatically and grabbed another handful of popcorn.
"You two are impossible."
I laughed weakly.
She smiled and nudged my shoulder. "You know what I think?"
"What?"
"I think Mr. Will regretted yelling at you the second you walked out of that cabin."
A small smile appeared on my face before I could stop it.
Caroline noticed immediately.
"There it is."
"What?"
"That smile."
I rolled my eyes.
She laughed.
"No matter how much you two fight, it's obvious you're in love."
This time, I couldn't even argue with her. Instead, I leaned back against the sofa, feeling a little lighter than I had all day. Maybe tomorrow wouldn't be so bad after all.
