Before the secret realm barrier, the void lay vast and silent.
After Bai Yue spoke his request, Zuo Shanke narrowed his eyes and studied him deeply.
The fusion of the Ten Origin Laws.
Zuo Shanke understood that concept better than almost anyone. Precisely because of that, a ripple of surprise passed through his heart. For Bai Yue to raise such a question meant one of two things: either he was deliberately probing, or he had not yet truly mastered the Chaos Laws. At most, he had reached the threshold of an Eternal True God.
That realization eased Zuo Shanke's vigilance slightly.
If Bai Yue had not yet fully stepped onto that path, then many of the methods Zuo Shanke possessed still lay beyond his reach. The initiative, at least for now, remained in Zuo Shanke's hands.
Moreover, the two of them had never been true enemies.
Earth formed a natural bond between them. Luo Feng—whom Zuo Shanke had already marked as a key candidate—had an excellent relationship with Bai Yue. If Luo Feng passed his future tests, that connection would only deepen.
With these thoughts aligned, Zuo Shanke made his decision.
"What a coincidence," he said calmly. "While exploring the Universe Sea, this old man once obtained a legacy related to that very matter. It did not suit my own cultivation path, but it happens to be perfect for exchanging for Beiqiu Prison Master."
He spoke as though it were a casual matter, but the choice had been weighed carefully.
Bai Yue smiled faintly. "In that case, Senior, I'll take you at your word. There's no need for formalities. Beiqiu Prison Master is yours."
With a flick of his wrist, the gray bead streaked through the void and came to rest before Zuo Shanke.
Zuo Shanke caught it easily.
The instant his divine sense probed inside, he paused.
Yan Emperor lay unconscious within, his aura suppressed to the extreme, already reverted to his original form.
For a brief moment, Zuo Shanke's evaluation of Bai Yue rose sharply. In such a short span of time, Bai Yue had knocked out a Universe Lord protected by both a peak soul treasure and a top-tier palace treasure. In the Primordial Universe, such methods could only be described as heaven-defying.
"Lord of Hunyuan," Zuo Shanke said slowly, "you are generous indeed. I won't speak further of this disappointing disciple. His own treasures are of little concern to me. However, that peak-grade armor among them was originally prepared for my future third disciple."
He paused, then continued, "To avoid you suffering a loss, I'll exchange it for a treasure of equal value. Is that acceptable?"
"Acceptable," Bai Yue replied without hesitation.
The treasures themselves were incidental. What he truly wanted was the legacy Zuo Shanke claimed to possess.
Zuo Shanke chuckled softly. "Straightforward. I appreciate that."
With a wave of his hand, a black crystal radiating faint light and a suit of red-and-yellow armor flew toward Bai Yue.
Bai Yue caught them and was about to return the Jie Armor when Zuo Shanke spoke again.
"The legacy you seek is recorded within that black crystal. Absorb it at your leisure. As for the Jie Armor, keep it. When my third disciple is born, he will come to find you."
Zuo Shanke's gaze was steady. "With your bearing, Lord of Hunyuan, I trust you won't go back on your word."
Bai Yue understood perfectly. This decision was not pure generosity—it was built upon Zuo Shanke's knowledge of his relationship with Luo Feng. Had it been anyone else, the outcome might have been very different.
Before Bai Yue could respond, another vast aura descended from the distant void.
A Universe's Strongest had arrived.
Invisible pressure swept across the region. Faint sounds—soft, almost imperceptible—echoed directly within the minds of the surrounding powerhouses. What appeared to be empty space was, in truth, filled with countless observers who had been drawn by the earlier battle.
Then—
A vast, ethereal river of starlight manifested out of nothingness.
It spanned several light-years in width and stretched endlessly into the distance. Within it floated countless strange artifacts, each radiating terrifying might.
"The Thousand Treasure River?" Zuo Shanke laughed lightly and glanced at Bai Yue. "It seems your teacher is not entirely at ease."
"Teacher naturally cares for me," Bai Yue replied with a smile. "And Senior, you're here for much the same reason."
From this distance, Bai Yue could clearly sense it. The Thousand Treasure River was not merely a top-tier domain treasure—it was a peak-level set treasure. In the hands of the Primordial Chaos City Lord, who had already broken through to the realm of the Universe's Strongest, its true power was fully unleashed.
Space rippled, and the Primordial Chaos City Lord appeared beside Bai Yue. Seeing no sign of immediate conflict, he finally relaxed.
"Zuo Shanke?" he asked. "What exactly are you two doing here?"
"I had a pleasant exchange with Lord of Hunyuan," Zuo Shanke replied calmly. "But there are other matters to attend to. Chaos, you've accepted a fine disciple."
Before his words faded, his figure vanished from the void.
Bai Yue turned to his teacher. "Please come with me. I'll explain everything in detail."
With a thought, the Feiyuan Divine Boat reappeared, expanding to a million kilometers and anchoring itself in the void. Gui Yi Venerable and the others stood respectfully at the bow as Bai Yue and the Primordial Chaos City Lord entered the cabin.
After hearing the full account, the Primordial Chaos City Lord sighed deeply.
"To think Beiqiu Prison Master had such a background… Truly unexpected."
He studied Bai Yue carefully. "Weren't you worried that extorting Zuo Shanke like this would anger him?"
"No," Bai Yue said with certainty. "He won't be angry. He doesn't care about those treasures or the legacy. More importantly, after this incident, he's completely disappointed in Yan Emperor."
The Primordial Chaos City Lord nodded slowly. "Even so, caution is still necessary. Zuo Shanke has always been unfathomable."
Far away, in a starfield countless light-years distant, Zuo Shanke released Yan Emperor from the shattered gray bead.
Yan Emperor stood alone in the void, stripped of his former arrogance.
"Cao Benqi," Zuo Shanke said coldly, "you have disappointed me."
When Yan Emperor begged desperately, Zuo Shanke only sighed once.
"From this day forward, you are no longer my disciple."
With that, he vanished, leaving Yan Emperor trembling in the void—resentment, rage, and despair consuming him.
Back aboard the Feiyuan Divine Boat, the Primordial Chaos City Lord finally examined the ancient vessel more closely.
"This flying palace… could it be a supreme treasure?"
"It surpasses even that," Bai Yue replied.
The Primordial Chaos City Lord fell silent, awed.
