At last, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived!
After Shiny Donphan's Body Slam struck Unfezant, the proud Flying-type was quite literally forced to lower its head.
Pinned beneath Donphan, it was finished off by a point-blank Hyper Beam!
Ding! Donphan defeated Unfezant.
Experience gained: 13,700.
Level increased. Current Level: Lv. 89!
With Unfezant defeated, Alain had only one Pokémon remaining.
His ace—
Charizard!
This was the very Charizard that had once battled Leon's Charizard in what had been billed as a clash between the world's strongest Charizard.
Even so, despite Mega Evolving, Alain's Charizard had still been defeated with relative ease by Leon's Charizard.
Leon hadn't even needed to Gigantamax it.
That alone showed just how enormous the gap in strength could be, even among Trainers capable of reaching the Masters Eight.
Alain let out a long breath.
He recalled Unfezant and took out his final Poké Ball.
"This is our last battle."
"I'm counting on you, Charizard!"
A familiar roar rang out.
A powerful, agile Charizard appeared on the battlefield!
Seeing it, the corners of Aiden's lips rose.
"Finally."
"I've been waiting for you."
Aiden took out another Poké Ball.
"This battle is yours—Charizard!"
That was right.
Aiden's final choice was also Charizard!
The instant the two Charizard appeared on the battlefield together, the entire stadium erupted in cheers.
Even the commentator couldn't suppress his excitement.
"Oh! What are we seeing?!"
"Champion Aiden and Alain have both chosen Charizard for this final showdown!"
"Then this next battle is going to be something special!"
Hearing the commentator, Alain gritted his teeth and immediately raised his Key Stone.
"Charizard!"
"Mega Evolve!"
Brilliant rainbow-colored light erupted across the battlefield.
Charizard's body began to transform.
When the light faded, a black-and-blue dragon stood in its place, blue flames burning from the corners of its mouth.
Mega Charizard X!
Aiden merely smiled.
"Mega Evolution?"
"Then we'll Mega Evolve too."
"Charizard!"
Rainbow-colored light also enveloped Aiden's Pokémon.
But when the transformation ended, what appeared was not another black-and-blue dragon.
Instead, it retained an appearance much closer to an ordinary Charizard, though its body had become sleeker and more imposing.
This was—
Mega Charizard Y!
Ding! Mega Charizard X's current attributes are as follows:
Pokémon: Mega Charizard X

Mega Evolution: Mega Charizard X

Level 93.
That meant Alain's Charizard, before Mega Evolution, possessed true strength around Level 88.
Compared with the aces of Lorelei and Wallace, it was still somewhat weaker.
Then Aiden looked at his own Pokémon.
Ding! Mega Charizard Y's current attributes are as follows:

At this moment, a scene that stunned countless spectators unfolded.
In a World Coronation Tournament match that would decide a place among the Masters Eight, both Aiden's and Alain's Charizard had Mega Evolved!
And even more coincidentally—
One had become Mega Charizard X.
The other had become Mega Charizard Y!
Such a matchup had never appeared before in any major League tournament.
Immediately, discussions erupted throughout the stands.
Which one was stronger?
Mega Charizard X?
Or Mega Charizard Y?
But the instant Aiden's Charizard completed its Mega Evolution, Drought activated.
Blazing sunlight flooded the battlefield.
The weather instantly changed to harsh, brilliant sunshine!
"Charizard, Dragon Claw!"
"Charizard, use Flamethrower!"
Both Trainers issued their commands simultaneously.
Mega Charizard X lunged forward.
Its powerful black claws became wrapped in deep blue Dragon-type energy as it charged straight toward Mega Charizard Y!
Aiden's Charizard gave a dismissive snort.
Sparks escaped its nostrils.
Then it opened its jaws.
BOOM!
An overwhelming torrent of flames erupted!
With Drought strengthening its Fire-type attacks, Mega Charizard Y naturally held an enormous advantage in a direct contest of flames.
If Mega Charizard X wanted to close the distance, it first had to break through the incoming Flamethrower.
"ROAR!"
Mega Charizard X opened its mouth and unleashed blue flames of its own.
The two attacks collided in midair!
But compared to Aiden's Charizard, Alain's flames were visibly being forced back.
As the old saying went—
In a beam struggle, the one on the left always loses.
Except Dyna, that bastard!
...Wait.
Wrong franchise.
Still, it was perfectly normal for Mega Charizard X to lose a direct contest of firepower against Mega Charizard Y.
Its true specialty was physical combat.
And although both were Fire-type Pokémon, Mega Charizard Y's Drought didn't only strengthen its own flames.
It strengthened Mega Charizard X's Fire-type attacks as well.
Combined with Mega Charizard X's excellent resistance to Fire, Alain's Charizard ultimately managed to force its way through the sea of flames!
Its Dragon Claw lit up once again.
"Meet it with Dragon Tail!"
Seeing the opponent enter close range, Aiden's Mega Charizard Y roared.
Its thick tail erupted with deep blue Dragon-type energy.
Dragon Tail!
It swung with tremendous force and collided directly with Mega Charizard X's Dragon Claw!
BOOM!
The two Dragon-type attacks clashed head-on.
Yet even in a contest of physical strength—
Aiden's Mega Charizard Y held the advantage!
Seeing this, Alain and his Charizard stared in disbelief.
Aiden could only shake his head inwardly.
You just haven't seen Leon's Charizard yet.
Aiden might not have thought particularly highly of Leon himself.
But Leon's Charizard?
That thing was genuinely terrifying.
Even Aiden estimated that his own Charizard would only last a few exchanges against it.
