Slowly, the weapon lowered by a fraction.
A pair of eyes shifted toward the bedroom door.
Nothing.
Only silence.
Several seconds passed before the weapon rose once more.
This time, another sound interrupted the stillness.
Footsteps.
Not hurried.
Not loud.
Simply approaching.
The intruder reacted immediately, slipping soundlessly into the shadows beside one of the floor-to-ceiling curtains only moments before the electronic lock outside emitted a quiet confirmation tone.
The bedroom door opened.
Thessian stepped inside.
His movements were unhurried, his attention fixed entirely upon the sleeping figures resting on the bed. He hadn't returned because of suspicion or instinct. After hours buried beneath reports and endless discussions, he had simply found himself unable to end the night without seeing Liora once more.
Closing the door quietly behind him, he crossed the room with familiar ease before stopping beside the bed.
For several moments, he simply watched them.
