Chapter 378 - Chapter 378: As Long as She’s Happy, That’s Enough

After the performance ended perfectly.

Silco and Sevika walked along the road leaving the venue, both somewhat silent.

Even if Sevika refused to admit it out loud, after listening through the entire performance, she truly could not find any flaws in it.

Ever since Silco had taken in that little blue-haired brat, in her impression, Jinx had always been a troublemaker who only knew how to cause problems.

But seeing her complete a performance like that today under the eyes of so many people, it had to be said, Sevika was somewhat surprised.

After the people around them gradually thinned out, Sevika was still the first to speak. "So what do you plan to do about it?"

Silco had looked thoughtful ever since earlier. Hearing her now, he lifted his head slightly and looked toward the road ahead. "After watching that performance, what are your thoughts?"

Sevika answered casually, "My thoughts are that Pilties are pretty good at making a spectacle, and the effect really was good. I'm asking what you plan to do about her. Judging by this situation, she must have known those people for a long time, but she kept hiding it from us."

"Maybe she wasn't hiding it." Silco thought for a moment and said, "Maybe she just thought there was no need to say it."

Based on his understanding of that girl, she was not the sort of person who told others everything. On the contrary, she had quite a mind of her own and had shown a distinctive, independent personality since she was young.

Most of the time, the decisions she made were also made in a burst of impulse.

For example, this time, Silco felt it must have been the same.

"Even now, you're still speaking up for her." Sevika gave a cold laugh. "The fact is, as you saw, she's getting along very passionately with the Pilties now. I'd wager she's long since forgotten Zaun."

"I believe she won't." Silco's voice was calm, but it carried a trace of certainty.

He would not misjudge people, so he believed there was absolutely no possibility that girl had forgotten Zaun.

"So you plan to keep watching?" Sevika understood Silco fairly well, and at this point, she had already guessed what he was thinking.

Clearly, he did not intend to interfere further.

If it were her, she would definitely drag that girl back and interrogate her harshly.

But thinking about it again, this was not something she should be anxious about. Why worry over it so much?

So this time, she had no intention of getting involved in their business.

After the performance ended, the band members also left Times Square and returned to the training base to celebrate.

Every time a performance ended perfectly, they would hold a small celebration.

Although they called it a celebration, the atmosphere was no different from usual.

At this moment, Jinx boldly downed an entire glass of iced cola in one go, then let out a refreshed "Ah."

Immediately afterward, she blinked and looked toward Luke. "When is our band going to perform in Zaun?"

As soon as she said that, Seraphine also looked toward Luke immediately, clearly rather concerned about this question.

Her parents were Zaunites, and they had told her stories about Zaun since she was young, stories from before the city had become what it was now.

Recently, under Sona's training, her ability to sense the heart had become more and more practiced.

Because of this, she had gradually come to understand that the discordant sounds from back then had come from the divide between the twin cities.

Pilties looked down on Zaunites for being rude, vulgar, and backward. Zaunites loathed and hated the oppression and delicate arrogance of Topsiders. As time passed, those discordant sounds had only grown more and more numerous.

The divide and disputes were constantly growing.

However, when she listened carefully and patiently to the songs deeper within people's hearts, she discovered that although the people seemed as if they came from two different worlds, the songs in the depths of their hearts were shared.

They could actually blend together very well.

So these days, Seraphine had often been thinking whether the band's appearance could break through the existing divide and disputes.

Perhaps they could do something for the twin cities that were "fighting with each other."

Hearing this, Luke thought for a moment and said, "It's still not the right time. Let's stabilize the situation in Piltover first, then talk about Zaun."

Performing in Zaun was actually part of Luke's plan too.

Because if they wanted to expand Janna's reputation, they had to resolve the issues between the twin cities. Zaun could not be bypassed.

The divide between the two sides had not yet reached its most serious point in the future, so this was indeed a suitable time.

His idea was also to rely on the band to slowly melt that divide.

However, although the band was explosively popular in Piltover right now, it had not yet truly found firm footing.

In other words, its weight in the hearts of the people was still not heavy enough.

After all, there were still some people who believed Jan'ahrem might only be a flash in the pan.

After getting her answer, Jinx went "Oh," then poured herself another glass of cola and drank it happily.

She did not have as many thoughts as Seraphine and Luke. She simply wanted to hold a concert in Zaun.

Or rather, this was a surprise she had secretly been preparing for a long time.

Just thinking of the expression Silco would have when he saw her onstage made her feel that it would be very amusing.

"When the time comes, I'll give all Zaunites a little Jinx shock!"

Imitating Luke's words, Jinx encouraged herself inwardly, brimming with fighting spirit. She boldly downed another glass, only to choke on it, unsurprisingly.

That made Lux laugh so hard she nearly lost her breath.

In short, neither of them escaped unscathed.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, a week passed.

Piltover's efficiency was very high, or rather, Ivo had taken the matter seriously.

In only ten days, the new performance venue had been built. The site was chosen near the Pilt River.

The terrain there was spacious, transportation to and from the area was convenient, and a train could reach it directly.

Following Luke's design, the venue had been built with a canopy like a bird's nest. The audience seats were arranged in a surrounding style, and seats had been added, allowing it to hold sixty thousand people at the same time.

From a distance, it was already quite a magnificent building.

Although many details still needed to be perfected, the basic construction had already been completed, and performances could already be held there.

During these days, the band naturally followed Luke's idea, holding performances on a schedule of one show every two or three days after rest.

High-intensity, high-quality performances had already conquered more and more Pilties.

Every performance brought them a sense of freshness. Every performance produced multiple hit songs, a stunning scene, and a perfect atmosphere.

The wind stirred up by Jan'ahrem had blown stronger and stronger. It gradually formed a trend, while also creating a kind of performance known as "pop music," which drew countless people to chase after it.

Just the advance preorders for guitars, basses, and drum sets were enough to make Ivo, Porter, and Briya earn money hand over fist.

Luke also took a share of the profits. Of course, to him, this little bit of money did not matter.

On the streets of Piltover, more and more musicians began chasing their dreams. It could be foreseen that Jan'ahrem's appearance had accelerated Piltover's path of music.

Of course, once the "Bird's Nest" was built, it could also be rented out on ordinary days, which was another source of income.

Today was already the band's fifth performance. Relying on the rate at which each show attracted large numbers of fans, the venue's four entrances had only been open for twenty minutes, yet the seats were already packed with people.

At a glance, dense crowds of people spread out from low to high, making it an astonishingly large scene.

And in a seat close to the middle section, Silco had already sat down early.

That was right. He had not missed any of these concerts. Without realizing it, scalping high-priced tickets had already become a habit.

He had not expected his money to flow into the market in this way, and that he would even be willing to let it happen.

Sitting in his seat, this was indeed much more comfortable than standing, and the view was also good. Since the seats rose from low to high, there would be no issue of his view being blocked.

When he looked at the scene of nearly sixty thousand people, he still felt somewhat surprised. There were actually this many people willing to spend money just to listen to songs for a while, and even he was one of them.

The reason was that he felt it was truly worth it.

Although he came every time, in truth, he also looked forward to the next time his office door opened and he saw that girl.

Then she would take the initiative to tell him about this.

However, his expectations fell flat every time. That was fine. He did not mind too much.

Before long, the two empty seats beside him were also occupied. They seemed to be a married couple.

The wife complained, "We could clearly get front-row tickets directly, so why did you choose two seats in the middle?"

The husband smiled indifferently. "Don't you think watching from this position will be more spectacular, with a better view?"

The wife thought about it, then smiled as well. "That's true. Watching from farther away has a nice feeling too."

At this moment, the husband looked toward Silco and greeted him with a polite smile. "Hello."

"Hello."

Silco likewise gave a slight nod in greeting.

However, the husband did not intend to stop there. He introduced himself with a smile. "My name is Porter, and this is my wife, Briya. Sitting next to each other is a kind of fate."

"Indeed." Silco nodded again, giving off an aloof impression.

Seeing this, Porter did not continue trying to make conversation. He sat down with Briya, and the two of them chatted softly.

Silco did not have the habit of eavesdropping on others' conversations, nor did he pay them too much attention.

As the sky gradually darkened, the venue was enveloped in a unique kind of blackness. This darkness could not cover the light, causing the venue to enter the atmosphere ahead of time.

As the lights on the stage suddenly lit up, the stars of today's concert also stepped onto the stage.

In an instant, thunderous cheers rang out across the venue. The sound was like a tsunami, extremely shocking.

The married couple beside him looked at the lead singer on the stage, and their eyes lit up at once. They could not help rising from their seats, cheering along with the crowd and waving the glow sticks in their hands with great effort.

The performance had not even begun, yet they were already a little lost in it.

Because the people in front also stood up, Silco's view was affected.

He sat on the chair like a block of wood, exuding an atmosphere completely out of place with his surroundings.

Porter noticed this, turned his head, and said with a beaming smile, "Come on, join in. It's a concert, there's nothing to be embarrassed about!"

Under his enthusiastic invitation, Silco still rose from his seat, though he could not wave his glow stick with that much effort.

Ever since Sevika had seen him last time, he had been so embarrassed he had wanted to disappear into the ground.

However, after he stood up, the scene before him became a new sight. Everyone was actively blending into the atmosphere, and under the leadership of this band, it all seemed so beautiful.

Silco could not imagine that this was the charm a single band could possess.

His gaze gradually landed on the figure on the stage. Even across some distance, he could still see her.

She was still smiling so happily.

Her gaze swept over the audience seats. Silco did not expect her to spot him among so many people.

Sure enough, her gaze skipped over the crowd and returned to her beloved drum set.

Very soon, after the pre-performance speech ended, today's performance officially began.

Silco admitted that this band truly did have a strange charm. Even he always found himself unconsciously blending into the atmosphere of the venue.

Although he still could not fully let himself go, he at least acted like a qualified audience member.

Soon, the performance passed the halfway point, and the band temporarily entered a rest period.

The audience did not mind either.

"She really sings beautifully."

"She does. Every time I hear her, I feel like crying."

The person who said this was Porter. He sat down with a face full of gratification and chatted with his wife.

Perhaps because he noticed that Silco had come alone and had no one to talk to, he looked toward him. "Is this your first time coming to a concert?"

"No. Third time."

Silco answered.

"Third time?" Porter widened his eyes in surprise. "Honestly, I never would've guessed. Since this is your third time, that means you must really like this band."

He could understand why Silco seemed unable to let loose. Judging from the air he gave off, he should belong to the steady and reserved type.

Silco did not deny it. "I suppose I do like them."

"Among these five exceptionally talented girls, which one do you support the most?" Porter asked curiously.

Silco picked up the glow stick in his hand.

"Jinx?" Porter glanced at it and smiled. "She really is quite popular. She always gives people this wild, unrestrained feeling. A lot of kids like her."

As the band's fame grew, naturally, its fans also grew more and more numerous.

And Jinx's wild, unrestrained aura, along with her boldness when playing the drums, had attracted many of Piltover's free-spirited youths.

At this moment, Silco also responded to Porter's enthusiasm and asked, "What about you two?"

Porter raised the glow stick in his hand and said with some pride, "We're die-hard fans of the lead singer."

"The songs she sings really are pleasant to listen to." Silco admitted this. That pink-haired lead singer's voice was very moving.

"Right?" Porter became even prouder and said emotionally, "As a father, seeing what she has achieved now makes me truly proud."

His words made Silco freeze slightly.

"She is our daughter." Porter had a smile on his face as he continued, "Are you surprised? A couple like us actually has such an amazing daughter."

"I am indeed a little surprised." Silco nodded. He had not expected the lead singer's parents to be sitting beside him.

Porter continued chatting warmly. "Do you have children?"

This question made Silco pause again. He subconsciously glanced toward the stage and replied, "I suppose so."

Porter did not catch the "suppose" at the end and continued asking, "Boy or girl?"

"Girl."

Silco answered very quickly this time.

"You have a very unusual air about you, but I imagine you must have had some disagreement with your daughter recently."

Porter analyzed this quite confidently. He observed Silco's expression and felt that he must have guessed correctly.

Silco opened his mouth. In the end, he nodded. "I suppose there has been a little. She seems to have some secrets she doesn't want to tell me."

"That's completely normal, my friend. Once girls grow up, they're definitely going to have their own privacy."

Porter smiled with understanding and said, "Maybe you haven't figured out whether she doesn't want to tell you, or whether she doesn't know how to tell you. But you should know, between father and daughter, there's no obstacle that can't be crossed."

His words sent Silco into thought.

It was not that she did not want to tell him, but that she did not know how to open her mouth?

Maybe she was embarrassed. Maybe it was something else.

After thinking for a moment, Silco spoke again. "What if she possibly chose a different life because she doesn't like the life she has with me?"

That question was a little strange. Porter thought about it seriously and gave his answer. "What I want to say is that everyone goes through the process of growing up. I don't know how you and your daughter get along, so I'll use myself as an example."

"Sometimes I can't help thinking, what can I do for her? What have I done for her? When she faces certain choices, should I make the decision for her? Or rather, should I interfere in her life?"

"Later, I figured it out. In truth, as parents, on their road through life, we are only responsible for helping them walk a short stretch. Most of the road is still something they have to walk themselves."

"She may not dislike the life she has with you. She may simply be yearning for another kind of life."

Listening to Porter's words, Silco felt as if something was clogging his heart.

Until Porter's next words.

"No matter what choice she makes."

"Aren't we, as parents, only hoping that she'll be happy?"

"As long as she's happy, even giving everything is worth it."

Hearing these words, Silco suddenly felt as if everything had opened up before him.

That was right. He felt that perhaps there was nothing more important than that girl's happiness.

Porter sized up Silco again. "Judging by your air, I imagine you're usually a very busy man. Maybe in the middle of all that work, you unintentionally overlooked your daughter's feelings. In my opinion, if you've earned enough money, you can loosen your grip on work a little and focus on spending time with your daughter."

Hearing this, Silco merely nodded slightly. He looked toward the stage, toward that blue-haired girl, his gaze somewhat complicated.

He carried too many things on his shoulders. They were not things he could let go of.

But there was one thing Porter had said that he felt was very good.

He truly did not need to dwell on why she had not taken the initiative to tell him about this.

Because as long as she was happy, that was enough.

Sometimes, he was also a qualified audience member.

As the new song began, Jinx struck the drums onstage, her starry eyes shining. Her figure on the stage was dazzling.

The corners of Silco's mouth curved into a smile, and in his heart, the same sense of pride as the man beside him surged up.

My daughter is also one of the members of this band.
