Chapter 199 - Chapter 199

The next days were among the brightest in a long time. The girls dove headfirst into watching films Kenshin recommended and discussed them even during meals.

Kenshin was very glad at this outcome and smiled watching the increasingly socialized Noriko. TV ignited much stronger interest in her than in the other women, and she was insanely pleased with everything on the screen.

Aiya and Natsumi were in complete rapture over "Titanic" and cried long over the incredible love story. Hitomi, Noriko, and Kasumi duly appreciated "Léon" and wholeheartedly respected that man with an unusual appearance but incredibly strong spirit.

The growing boys, as well as Kenshin's older sons who also got several huge TVs, mostly watched tough action movies. Impressions were somewhat diluted by much weaker screen characters. Any older son felt he could handle any on-screen foe. The exception was the incomprehensible metal man called "Terminator." Only Chunin-rank could hope to beat him.

Kenshin himself spent almost all time training and long, exhausting spars. He'd long noticed his psionic-related abilities developed much better in intense battle. However, his quite weak physical body couldn't keep up with his psionic power growth.

He assumed that if he gained Chunin-level physical strength, then after fully integrating psionics into muscles and bones, he'd get unfathomable power at least comparable to peak Jonin, and with formations, easily protect his family from Elite Jonin.

That's why, after returning from Kusagakure, he tasked several particularly experienced sons from Hitomi, using the latest equipment, to research chakra properties and its impact on body cells. Though his own anatomy knowledge was insufficient, he fully analyzed all available meds and devices, gleaning invaluable knowledge from detailed manuals on their use.

He didn't expect quick success, but the start was made, and the sons, under Hitomi's lead, methodically researched previously unknown connections. After raising "Shelter Creation" to seventh level, even more high-tech devices and amazing meds opened to Kenshin, whose huge manuals he mastered the first day and passed to his sons' and beloved wife's heads the next.

Transferring memories to wives' minds was much slower and tiring. Kenshin far from first try established firm mental contact and explained to Hitomi how to disable passive defense. But even so, things slowly moved off dead center.

Kenshin was glad Hitomi was a true Medical Ninjutsu master and could compensate lack of scientific education with her incredible skill. Otherwise, he'd spend years rediscovering synapses, neurons, and neurotransmitters.

With access to diverse films and series, Kenshin hoped for at least one medical documentary, but the "system" deliberately blocked any info sources, including films/series detailing key scientific-technical progress info.

On the evening of the 438th day, a joyful event happened. Mayumi gave Kenshin another son, and he couldn't help rejoicing at such a magnificent gift. Labor was quite hard, as Mayumi had no experience, but all went well, and the new mom, just twenty minutes after contractions started, tiredly nursed the baby.

Kenshin spent the whole evening with her to calm her agitated nerves and not let the baby cry too much. Hitomi assured him labor went more than well, but he deemed his presence necessary to soothe the birthing beauty.

The next few days, he devoted much time to Mayumi and Forty-First baby, and prepared Noriko for her life's toughest trial. In final days before birth, she was insanely aggressive and nearly fought Hitomi several times.

Kenshin was the only one she barely growled at; rather, she constantly sought to rush into his arms for affection. He tried spending more time with her, soothing her aggressive thoughts to prevent more trouble.

Besides family cares, he attended external issues, steadily selling katanas and shuriken via Kimura family intermediary. He also didn't forget extracting, rethinking, and passing experience between sons, further nearing second consciousness stream mastery.

Despite mourning, all four teams dutifully continued combat missions, gaining battle experience and glory for Nakayama Family. Kenshin didn't rush forming team five; instead, he tasked commanders to occasionally take a less experienced brother for practical reinforcement of theory.

After lunch on the 440th day, Aburame Tadao visited Nakayama Family home again. He wanted to strengthen ties between vassal org and Konoha. It was no trouble for Kenshin to spare the guest an hour; plus, he got tons of non-secret diverse info from Tadao.

In particular, Kenshin learned the long-awaited Chunin Exam would be in four months. He already knew it wasn't quite a "Chunin promotion exam" but like Olympics where great villages and more competed, showing off rising generation strength.

Chunin Exam's main goal wasn't showing off young talent—talented shinobi was just decent future investment, uninteresting to current world rulers, as top exam performers every four years wouldn't necessarily reach Elite Jonin.

The event's main goal was politics, as no better safe way to gather conflicting sides at negotiation table. Besides Chunin Exam, there was Five Kage Summit, but calling all Kage only in emergencies with far greater world threat than country wars.
