Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

The birth went remarkably well—Aya pushed for about fifteen minutes until the baby's head appeared. Seeing the head, Kenshin panicked again and froze for a few seconds, not knowing what to do. But he pulled himself together and carefully extracted the child.

A few minutes later, Kenshin held the baby in his arms—the infant silently gazed at him with tiny blue eyes.

"Aya, look how cute he is. Here, little Ichiro, go to Mommy," Kenshin whispered, handing him over.

"God, he's so adorable!" Aya said joyfully, taking the boy in her arms. The blue-eyed baby looked at Aya and began crying loudly, eyes crossing toward Kenshin.

"Be a good boy, don't cry. That's your mommy," Kenshin said with a smile, leaning down to lightly kiss his son's crown.

As if hearing Kenshin's words, the baby instantly quieted and looked at his mother.

Aya pressed her son to her and tenderly kissed him. "You're so beautiful, God... My little Ichiro, you'll grow up strong shinobi!" Aya declared enthusiastically, then looked at Kenshin and added, "You know, I always fell asleep to Grandpa's stories about his father, my great-grandfather. I imagined all his made-up tales were true, and I was the great-granddaughter of a descendant of the great Uchiha Clan!"

Hearing Aya's last words, Kenshin's smile froze, and he suddenly asked, "What stories? Uchiha Clan?.."

"Oh, it's just the ravings of an old drunk. As a kid, I believed every word with awe, but now I know my great-grandfather couldn't have been a son of the Uchiha Clan, supposedly abandoned in a simple village by his parents fleeing a terrible chase. Great-Grandpa always told this incredible story until real Uchiha Clan members heard it. They beat him brutally, breaking several ribs. After that, he stopped telling it to everyone, but told my grandpa, and Grandpa told me."

"Yeeah, your great-grandpa had it rough..." the young man sighed half-disappointedly, realizing he'd rejoiced too soon.

"Ichiro, little one, hungry?" Aya asked in a tender tone, bringing him to her breast. The boy latched onto her right nipple like clockwork and silently began feeding.

Meanwhile, Kenshin decided not to disturb them and left the room. Three hours later, the young father blinked in surprise when Aya emerged from the bedroom as if nothing had happened. Her belly was flat again, without a single stretch mark or sag, and her pussy tight and firm once more.

"No way! The System did a number on her—not otherwise!" the young man thought delightedly, hugging Aya and looking at his first son.

Suddenly an idea struck Kenshin. Gazing at the baby, he mentally whispered "Status," and a small summary popped up before him.

Name: Nakayama Ichiro

Age: 62 days

Talent Level: 16

Expected Development Rank: Genin.

Chances of further achievements:

Chunin – 40%

Jonin – 1%

Kage – 0.001%

"What? 62 days? Hm, maybe the System counts by accelerated child development time..."

Reading the description of each point carefully, Kenshin realized the System had adapted to this world's ranks and evaluated talent based on chakra control achievements.

"Hm, so talent level is a measure of future shinobi achievements. Ichiro's is 16, so his expected peak is Genin, with possible Chunin rank... Hm, if it were 20, he'd reach Chunin without issues..." Kenshin pondered, assessing future prospects.

"Ichiro, look how much Daddy loves you—he can't take his eyes off you, right, Kenshin?" Aya asked with a cheerful smile, cooing at the baby, kissing him, and showering him with maternal tenderness.

"Uh-huh... Ichiro, grow up quick—Dad needs a helper!" Kenshin said laughing, hugging his wife and son.

"Don't listen to him, little one. Daddy's joking. Grow as long as you want—Mommy will take care of you!" Aya declared, unable to stop rejoicing at becoming a mother.

The next few hours passed unnoticed—the baby slept and ate but didn't cry, often looking toward his father. Aya and Kenshin had dinner and went to bed. Due to the bloodied bed in the bedroom, the girl and child used the bed in the "guest" room, while Kenshin squeezed onto one of the four beds in the "barracks." But he didn't complain, knowing well that the first night the mother and child needed proper rest.

Waking in the morning, Kenshin could hardly believe he'd become a father. He got out of bed and found Aya at the kitchen table, with the baby seated before her, playing happily. Ichiro laughed loudly and played with Mommy, carefree.

Seeing Kenshin, Aya said, "Oh, good morning. Look, our little one already has teeth! I can't believe how fast he's growing."

Kenshin noted the baby had indeed grown much larger overnight and wondered where the growing body got its energy. Deciding it was another "System" mystery, he brushed off the useless thoughts and kissed the girl and baby.

"Well, bandit, growing?" Kenshin asked his first son with a smile.

The baby didn't reply, just squealed happily and reached both arms to Kenshin, wanting to be picked up. The young father took his son in his arms and played with him for about ten minutes, spinning around the kitchen to the baby's pealing laughter and the girl's tender gaze.

The rest of the day passed routinely. Aya tended the baby, while Kenshin trained in the gym, caught four live rabbits—specially modifying the formation so it now made them jump into the snare at an angle, catching them by the hind legs.

After lunch, the young man rested through the heat, spending time with his wife and child. By evening, Kenshin went berry-picking, gathering the local equivalent of familiar blackberries for about an hour. Then he headed to the river, took a few fish from the artificial cage, tossing some boiled grain to the rest. Then he went home.
