"We'd need something that used to belong to her... something she considered very important and precious. " stated the Grans.
"Would I count?" Joked Orian.
"..."
"Sorry!! Bad joke!!" Said Orian.
He took out a small locket that she had given him on his hatching day celebration, she said that it would remind him that she'll always be close.
Orian found a strange sense of peace when he looked at it after her death, it made him feel like she was always close and still watching over him.
"Will this do?" Asked Orian.
The Grans took the locket and examined it.
"Her spirit imprint is strong on this, it will do the trick. I hope you know what you're signing up for young one!
There will be no going back once you have the information.
Orian nodded his head in understanding.
"Do we perform the ritual here or...?"
"No! We must do it at the place where she died! Meet us tonight at Raven's Hollow!" Exclaimed the Grans.
"Tonight!? The people I spoke too mentioned that Raven's Hollow isn't safe at night!?" Exclaimed Orian.
The Grans laughed.
"What kind of death mages would we be if we didn't investigate the rumors, we can assure you, there's nothing at Raven's Hollow that's a danger to us."
"Just some overeager youths who goes there to 'socialize' but you knew that already?" Mocked the Grans.
Orian returned home and continued with the rest of the day without telling anyone his plans.
He retired early, pretending to be tired from the day's events, but snuck out of the house without anyone noticing.
Despite the late hour, the city was still abuzz with activity as the night time activities and venues opened up for business.
It was a different matter once he reached the Sky Quarter however. As a mostly residential area, there was very few active nightlife venues here.
For those activities, the people decended down into the underground portion of Sanctuary and joined the festivities there.
Or went to the outer districts where the Kitsune and fairies stayed.
He encountered only a few people in the streets and those tended to avoid him as he came closer.
He found the Grans already waiting in the master bedroom with all the ingredients needed for the ritual.
They were currently drawing a ritual triangle on the ground. While also placing several candles around the ritual.
"This ritual will protect us if the spirit turns out to be hostile. She can't leave the triangle without the summoner's permission, but it won't hold her in this world and she's free to leave at any time."
"It also won't force her to answer any questions asked, it will be up to you to convince her to cooperate. " stated one of the sisters.
Orian nodded his head.
The Grans took positions at the sharp points of the triangle and began to chant.
"Ohhh spirit of the one tied to this object!! Hear our call!!"
The locket began to levitate into the air as the magic took effect.
"Your mortal loved one desires your council!! We are creating a bridge between your world and ours!! Answer us!!" Exclaimed the Grans
A muffled cry at the door of the bedroom drew everyone's attention. Orian saw that the door was slightly open and two pairs of small eyes were watching the activities.
"Come out here right now!!!" Yelled Orian angrily.
A moment later the door was pushed open and Quill and Quicksilver walked in with bowed heads.
"What the hell are you two doing here!!?" Asked Orian.
"W-we overheard you talking to the Grans... about bringing Lavender back... we wanted to be here, to speak to her one last time..." stated Quicksilver.
"Absolutely not!! This won't be a pleasant experience and I don't want you two going through such a morbid ordeal. " said Orian.
"Why are you the only one allowed to get closure!!! Why would you deny us our right to bid our farewells!! You're not the only one who has lost a friend!!" Yelled Quill.
Orian looked helplessly at the Grans, who shook their heads.
"They have as much right to be here as you, Orian!! We can not intervene. " stated the Grans.
Orian reluctantly stepped aside and his friends joined him as the Grans continued the ritual.
A moment later the locket began to glow as the spirit began to step into the world. Orian averted his eyes as the brightness intensified.
Once it died down and the figure was revealed, Orian gasped in shock.
The Grans had warned him beforehand that Lavender's spirit might not look like how he expected it to look.
She might not have even been a dragon at all.
But it was still a shock for him to see a fully grown adult dragon almost as large as he was instead of the childhood friend he grew up with.
Although she wasn't that much bigger than him,Orian suspected that this wasn't her true size and that she was making herself smaller in order to fit into the room.
She was covered in incorporeal scales that was next to impossible to identify what color her scales had once been, with a long mane of light blue hair that flowed from the back of her head and down her long neck before ending at her shoulders.
Her emerald green eyes watched them closely.
"I don't understand!! I thought you said you were going to call Lavender?" Asked Quicksilver.
"You know me as Lavender, Quicksilver. But I was known by another name long ago." Said the Spirit.
Quicksilver and Quill weren't informed that Lavender had been a Revenant, so this was deeply confusing for them.
As bad as it was for them, it was even worse for Orian. Even though he was certain that he had never encountered this female before, he knew her.
A name jumped to the forefront of his jumbled mind.
"T-Tanwen?" He asked.
She smiled and nodded her head.
"Orian?! Do you know this person?!" Asked the Grans.
"She's... she was my ...." Stammered Orian.
Something snapped in his mind and a whole tidal wave of memories, feeling and experiences flooded his mind.
And most of them weren't pleasant ones.
