Everyone looked at Razor and waited for her to elaborate.
"Remember the tests I did on your scales?" Asked Razor.
Storm nodded his head.
"If I recall correctly, you said they are capable of storing energy and acting as backup power sources?"
"Exactly!! So if you anticipated a fight against her, you could charge up beforehand.
That would give you a power reserve far greater than other dragons your age!!"
"What would be the potential drawbacks to this method?" Asked Aurora.
"Well... he would be incapable of interacting with objects or even touching anything... He'd shock anything he'd come in contact with!
His scales also can't hold it for so long.
The energy would eventually 'leak' out if he didn't keep it charged up." Explained Aurora.
"So, He'd need to discharge if he wanted to interact with something?
And he'd need to know ahead of time if he was going to fight against Omen?
What if she caught him by suprise though?
Could he charge his reserves fast enough to combat her?" Asked Kalipso.
Razor shook her head.
"Not unless he's in an area with high reserves of energy in the air. "
At this Vulgar seemed to take notice.
He flew over to the table and joined the conversation.
"He may not be able to do it through regular means but you all forgot that he still has me!
Djinni are beings of pure magical energy, and our unique bond will allow me to transfer energy directly to him if he needed it!"
Razor considered it for a moment.
"That could work! And as you two are using the same element, you should be able to freely transfer energy between each other!
But are you sure it's safe!? You're still young and small! Do you really have the energy reserves required without risking erasure in the transfer?" Asked Razor.
".... I.... don't.... but if I could find a powerful source of lightning energy, I could grow.
That is how Djinni age, by absorbing sources of energy. "
Everyone nodded.
"That takes care of the power gap somewhat. Now we just need to find her?" Said Grombrim.
"She'll find us! Storm has already interfered with her plans twice now. She's not the kind of person that would let that go unpunished. " warned the Grans.
"Now that the topic of Omen has been dealt with, what's the situation with the diplomatic front? I did tell you all that I wanted the Orcs and Trolls situation dealt with before I returned?" Asked Storm.
Everyone at the table fell silent and averted their eyes.
"I'm afraid things are still at a standstill."
Storm sighed.
You have two more weeks to resolve this your own way! I have things here that I need to deal with!! If they are still not on board by the time I finish, then I will have no choice but to intervene directly! For now, this meeting is finished!
As everyone got up and prepared to leave, Storm suddenly called out again.
"Grombrim and Brenda!! Can you please stay behind!!
They both froze at the mention of their names.
Once the last person left the room and the doors slammed shut.
Storm addressed the reason he decided to delay their departure.
"I believe I owe you two an answer? I said that I would come to a decision about your request to join our forces?"
They both swallowed and nodded their heads nervously.
"I have decided to accept your application. " said Storm.
Brenda jumped up and down in happiness, while Grombrim seemed to get a sad expression.
"Thank you, Thank you!! You won't regret this!! I promise you that!!" Exclaimed Brenda as she rushed Storm and embraced his leg.
"Storm.... I'm begging you as a friend..." started Grombrim.
Storm stopped him with a gesture.
"I understand your concerns Grombrim, but please let me finish giving her assignments before you argue further. "
Brenda grew serious again and stood at attention at a respectable distance.
"I'm placing you in charge of our newest engineering division. I expect you and your fellow engineers to devise ways to improve our weaponry, defenses and find ways to counter Order technology once we receive samples of it." Said Storm.
Brenda went from 'exuberance' to 'disappointed' in a manner of seconds, while the reverse happened to Grombrim.
"But... if I'm stuck 'tinkering' in a workshop?
Then I won't have the time to join in battle!?" Cried Brenda.
Storm nodded his head.
"If it's one thing that I have learned with these few skirmishes we've had with The Order so far! It's that we are seriously under equipped to deal with them right now!!
It's clear that a new evolution of warfare is happening in front of us, and the old ways are no longer sufficient.
You are the most knowledgeable in these new weapons of war out of all the people currently under my command, and our forces will need your expertise if we wish to survive.
This makes you too valuable to risk on the front lines, where your inexperience may result in your premature demise.
I'm placing you in the field where you will have the best performance, developing the weapons that will secure our victory. " Explained Storm.
It looked like Brenda was going to argue further, but she seemed to give up as she realized that Storm was right.
She bowed her head to show her acceptance.
"Good! Now that the appointment of duties is out of the way! I have your first assignment ready for you! I trust you have met my uncle, Pyros already?"
"The metal dragon? Of course!! What they did to him is a desecration of the engineer's field!! But it's fascinating as well!
Nothing like him has ever been made before!!" Exclaimed Brenda.
"He has been having problems understanding the new additions to his body.
I'm hoping your experience in the field might allow him to better understand these new abilities and to help him come to terms with them."
Storm had never seen Brenda this excited before. She was practically bouncing.
"I'll get started on this right away!!" Exclaimed Brenda.
Storm raised a claw to stop her.
"Easy now!! Let me talk to him first!! After what he went through, he might not be keen on being experimented on again!!" Said Storm.
Benda got a solemn expression and bowed her head.
"Of course! Please forgive me! For now, I need to set up a proper workshop in the city in preparation for the work." Said Brenda.
"Make a list and present it to your brother, he'll see to it that you receive the materials you need!" Said Storm.
The siblings bowed their heads and turned to leave. At the doors, Grombrim seemed to hesitate. He peered over his shoulder and looked Storm in the eye.
"Thank you, Storm!" He Exclaimed before leaving the room.
