Hunter was a little surprised.
He had not expected the way he had been playing in Vegas these past few days to be noticed by these guys.
Even more surprising, Danny Ocean and his crew had actually come looking for him on their own.
"Wait a second... are these guys trying to recruit me into their theft crew too?"
That thought suddenly surfaced in Hunter's mind.
He was just about to turn them down when something in his head shifted.
His gaze moved to the young-looking man standing near Danny Ocean.
Linus Caldwell.
He came from a family of pickpockets. His father was a notorious thief with an almost unbelievable pair of hands.
Anything on someone else, so long as Linus Caldwell's father wanted it, could be taken without the victim even noticing.
Linus himself had not reached that level yet, but his thieving skills were already steadily improving.
Then Hunter looked at Rusty Ryan.
A gambling cheat, a card shark, and a con man with a silver tongue and endless initiative.
Hunter considered his own gambling skill. It was unquestionably above Rusty Ryan's now.
But his near-perfect card skill was really more about observation, memory, technique, reading people, and analyzing their psychology.
He did not know how to cheat at cards.
Still, that was exactly the kind of skill he wanted.
Hunter had no interest in becoming a pickpocket, and he sure as hell was not trying to become some gambling god.
But he had the Proficiency System.
Every time he activated another skill and eventually pushed it to max level, he would gain fifteen free attribute points, fifteen cubic meters of private space, and even another year of lifespan.
That was not even counting the passive bonuses that came with max-level skills.
Then Hunter remembered something else.
As a movie buff in his previous life, he had seen more than a few films.
Since Ocean's Eleven characters had appeared in this world, then the Ocean's Twelve-style female-caper storyline might also exist here.
When he thought about a certain female character from that series he had liked in his previous life, Hunter quickly ran the numbers in his head.
And just like that, he made up his mind.
"Alright."
He looked at Rusty Ryan calmly and gave a slow nod.
Rusty, apparently, had not expected him to agree so easily.
The fake smile on his face became a little more genuine.
"Come on. There's a bar over there. My treat. We can talk there."
Hunter nodded and followed him.
Before long, he was brought to a nearby bar.
Maybe because Las Vegas was such a tourist-heavy city, some of its bars were not what most people imagined.
Rusty sat down at a table outside the bar and snapped his fingers.
A bartender quickly came over.
"What can I get you gentlemen?"
"One brandy, on the rocks."
"Bring some food too. I am starving."
Then he looked at Hunter. "What about you?"
"Got any cocktails?"
Hunter glanced at the bartender and asked casually.
He did not have much of a taste for straight liquor. He drank cocktails more like soft drinks.
With his body now more than five times stronger than that of an ordinary adult male, it would take far more than a couple of drinks to get him drunk.
The bartender nodded at once. "Yes, sir."
"Then give me a Margarita."
"Of course. One moment."
The bartender left.
Hunter looked back at Rusty and saw he was about to speak.
Hunter spoke first.
"Are you not going to bring your friends over?"
"You have been watching me for all those days. You are not just here to chat."
Rusty froze.
Clearly, he had not expected Hunter to notice the three of them despite all their caution.
Seeing Hunter's calm and indifferent expression, Rusty knew this would not be something he could brush off with a few words.
He got up and waved toward the others.
"Hey. Come on over."
The two men hiding about ten meters away, pretending to be ordinary patrons at another table, were Danny Ocean and the young pickpocket Linus Caldwell.
Both of them froze.
Danny reacted first. He had more experience and immediately realized they had been made.
He stood up and patted Linus on the shoulder.
"We should go over too. He has probably spotted us."
The two of them soon reached the table where Hunter and Rusty were sitting.
Danny gave Hunter an apologetic smile.
"Sorry."
Then he pulled out a chair and sat down.
Linus followed suit, but the young thief was still too green to hide his nerves. Even after sitting down, he looked restless and stiff.
Now that all three of them were here, Hunter decided to speak first.
"I am curious. Who are you people?"
Linus stayed silent.
Danny and Rusty exchanged a look.
Rusty answered first. "Hey, I am Rusty. What should we call you?"
"Hunter."
Hunter gave them the English name he was using in this life.
Before Rusty could say anything else, Hunter cut in.
"If you came here because you noticed my gambling skill and want to work with me, then forget it."
"I am not nearly as interested in money as you think."
"If you came to me, then you should already know I won several million at the Bellagio a few days ago and just walked away from it."
That was, of course, Hunter deliberately inflating his own value.
Linus's eyes widened. Danny's smile stiffened.
Rusty, who had been about to speak, opened his mouth slightly and then found himself blocked by Hunter's words.
There were not many people in this world who did not care about money.
They had no way of knowing whether the handsome Asian man in front of them was telling the truth.
Because, as he had said, they did know he had won five or six million dollars at the Bellagio and then left it behind.
But based on what they had uncovered in the last few days, they suspected Hunter had also been moving through multiple casinos in disguise.
And while he controlled the results, he still won and lost on purpose.
Playing for only an hour or two at a time and still walking away with tens of thousands of dollars each trip, he had probably made several million more in Las Vegas by now.
So for a moment, even Danny Ocean and his crew, who had clearly recognized his abilities and wanted him in their operation, did not know how to proceed.
But Danny Ocean was no ordinary man.
This time, for the sake of getting his ex-wife back and getting revenge on casino mogul Terry Benedict, he was willing to stake everything.
He spoke without hesitation.
"Sir, would one and a half million dollars be enough to convince you to play a role in our little operation?"
