Damn it!' Zuko cursed in his mind, for he was once again inside the detention chamber. This time it was under Suki's orders. Apperently he was still insane , for trying to go against the Unagi without any form of bending. Balderdash. Absolute piffle in his opinion. But then again, he should have known better to trust people who use metal fans to fight close combat . That was his B.
That unagi, had such strong chi. It was even capable of bending water. If only he could consume its flesh... Mmmm. Zuko had to contain his excitement. Then he stared out of the small window of the detention chamber and gazed outside.
This will not do.
'I'mma go kill that snake now'
"Hooooooooooh"
Sucking in massive amounts of air, Zuko took a deep breath and flexed.
'One gorilla
Two gorilla'
Chi flowed into Zuko's arms, bloating them like balloons.
"Raaaaaagh!"
And with a throaty yell, Zuko ripped off the entire metal frame of the bars that blocked him from using the windows to escape.
"Tac tac tac"
Pebbles and dust fell onto the floor while a cloud of dust filled the small enclosure, making Zuko step outside.
"Freedom! At last!"
Zuko all but yelled. The fresh air, the unrestrained view and the simmering sun that caused his skin to tingle.....
"Meh, this shit is boring." It was the same as it always was. His arms deflated back to normal, and he clenched his fingers tentatively.
"That worked better than I expected" then his gaze wandered once more,
"Now where are my sashimi knives? Giant eel waits for no one..."
May was at the village chiefs hut. As a tradition, at least one Kyoshi warriors would always remain close to the village chief's hut, be it for status or for protection. A boring job, especially when anyone hardly ever comes by, but yet a tradition upheld by both the Kyoshi warriors and the village leaders. And unfortunately for May, she had drawn the shorter stick.
With the thick makeup masking her face, she stood by the side, leaning against a pillar while keeping a watchful eye on the grandkids of the village chief. Toddlers, playing in the sand with wooden toys . Her other eye was on the polished wooden box inside that kept the swords of their most recent visitor.
"A coin for your thoughts?"
A voice from above interrupted her brooding. With a sigh, May walked out of the shade only to find the most unexpected person on the roof.
"You are supposed to be locked up"
"And yet here I am"
Zuko replied as he leapt from the roof, landing softly on the earth.
"Yet here you are" May agreed as she drew open her fans. Interestingly the should be imprisoned man shook, almost trembled, before he composed himself. A weird reaction she had observed every time from him.
"Why ?" She asked warily, making the other wave his arms dismissively,
"Oh, nothing, just here to grab my sword... I take it, that they are in that box? "
Zuko questioned after following May's gaze.
"Last warning" May opened her battle fans, "Go back to your pen, or I will use force."
"Wait..you only warned me now, so isn't this technically the first warning?"
"It is and it will be the last as well."
Zuko didn't reply immediately. Instead he squatted down and twisted his body to left and right making joints pop.
"Just so you know" Zuko said as he twisted his neck left and right, making satisfying "pops", " This is nothing personal, and I have nothing in particular against you or the Kyoshi warriors,.."
'Crackle , pop'
Zuko twisted his entire torso making his spine pop, "It's just, I've a hankering for some sea serpent meat, and you are standing between me and my cooking knives"
'Is this guy serious?'. May couldn't even understand what was going on the guy's brain. Even the avatar had failed to tame the beast, so what could a simple non bender do?.
"Wow" she deadpanned, "You really think you're a bright little chap don't you?"
"Darling" his grin widened till it reached his ears." I'm like the full moon in the dark sky. My briliance is unmatched."
Zuko rushed in with a wide haymaker. It was fast, ruthless and full of power, May was not impressed.
'So predictable'
She side stepped, and aimed a kick to Zuko's temple. Zuko reacted just as fast. But instead of blocking it or dodging, he moved his entire torso back within the path of the kick. It occurred in a split second. As May moved foreward with her kick, Zuko pulled her into his range before delivering a powerful kick with the momentum of his entire body to her side.
Its worth mentioning that the current Zuko was practically a superhuman. With a massive chi reserve, a body that had reached to a point matching a human male at his peak. This is the same body that broke metal chains with kicks. The poor girl never stood a chance. Infact Zuko could've sworn that he heard something crack. Most likely some ribs, or maybe her arm.
'I...Uh' Zuko stood frozen for a moment.'I put too much into that, didn't I?'
He looked at the girl who was on the ground, groaning. Yup, he screwed up. Thankfully her armour had prevented the worst, or else, instead of a few cracks, May might have ended up with broken bones.
Carefully picking up the fallen girl, Zuko placed her on the closest soft ground he could find. Then reaching into his pants, he pulled out a pouch, his entire savings, and placed half of the coins in her hand.
"Sorry about that..." Zuko awkwardly said, to which the only reply he got was a laboured groan. "Yeah, so ...uh.. Bye!"
And just like that, he was gone. Zuko didn't try anything he didn't know, and he certainly was not going to rouse his chi just before a battle. That was better left to the Kyoshi warriors themselves. The village chief had seen the fight, so Zuko was not worried about May. Instead he was worried for himself. He looked down to compare the size of his dao swords against the gigantic sea serpent.
And so he decided to make one last stop before his fishing adventure. Zuko began to walk in a direction where smoke and the sound of metal clanging came. It was time to upgrade his fishing equipment.
