Garrett and Red stood like a brick wall on the north side. Garrett swung his mace in a steady rhythm. Krak-boom, krak-boom. Every hit blew away a monster. Red used its thick wool to block the attacks that slipped past. Garrett didn't have fancy magic. He just had a great weapon and the stubborn willpower to never step back. It was enough.
Dillon and Cloudy ruled the sky. The snake shot wild electricity into the bat swarms. Crackle-boom. Dozens fell out of the air, roasted. Dillon zoomed across the sky on his lightning boots, slicing through the rest with his electric sword. "Cloudy, to the left! They're diving at the people!"
Cloudy spun fast, shooting a thick bolt of lightning. The bats exploded high above the escape path, safe from the runners. Dillon grinned. "Good girl. Let's fry the rest."
