Chapter 19 - "Naming Pets, Furina is Prohibited"

What was Neuvillette doing at this moment?

The Hydro Dragon had his head down, incessantly processing the pile of documents that filled her entire desk.

Although most of the less important official duties had been taken over by the Fontaine Council, all significant documents still had to be submitted to Neuvillette for approval. However, Neuvillette had spent most of his energy last week refining the new internal administration system, leaving him with essentially no time to handle paperwork.

Consequently, the documents piled high on his desk were the accumulated volume of an entire week.

Neuvillette: Miserable.

To avoid increasing Neuvillette's workload further, Furina had no choice but to run over to his office herself.

Furina pushed the doors open and strode into the Iudex's office.

Neuvillette saw Furina walk straight in. He put down his documents, frowned slightly and said. "Lady Furina, it is currently working hours. Although you are my superior, please knock before entering in the future."

"Right, right, I get it. Next time for sure." Furina replied to Neuvillette perfunctorily.

"I'm here to talk about serious business!" Furina put her hands on her hips and said. "After my careful inspection and research of Fontaine, I've discovered that Fontaine is currently missing a very important law."

"Oh? Lady Furina, as far as I know, Fontaine's current legal system is already quite complete. I wonder which area you wish to add a law to?"

Hearing it was related to the law, Neuvillette felt a spark of interest.

"Hmphhmph." Furina lifted her head and looked at Neuvillette proudly, saying, "And that is—it is forbidden to name pets Furina!"

Neuvillette: Is this really the same person who proposed so many useful suggestions before?

"Why are you silent? This law is very important! Very important!" Furina repeated twice. "This concerns my reputation and dignity as the Hydro Archon!"

Neuvillette: I don't know her...

Rina: Same here.

"A law that doesn't violate principles, is insignificant, and yet has a tiny bit of use... I'll let her handle it. After all, she is my superior." Neuvillette thought to himself.

"Lady Furina, I agree with your opinion in principle. According to the procedure, please submit this matter to the Council for a vote."

"Huh? It still needs to be submitted to the Council?" Furina was a bit dazed. She didn't want so many people knowing she proposed this law because she was annoyed by a small animal's name, the Hydro Archon had her pride to maintain!

While Neuvillette didn't read the newspapers much, those high-ranking officials in the Council certainly did!

"Lady Furina, this is a clear requirement of the new laws. As the god of justice, you surely cannot violate the law." Neuvillette said somewhat sternly.

"Yes, as the god of justice, I will of course take the lead in obeying the law."

With both Furina and Neuvillette in agreement, bringing it to the Council was just a formality. Naturally, the Council passed the law without any surprises. After Furina dragged the dog owner to the Gardes for a lecture, she was finally satisfied.

However, Furina also used her Fontaine Task Force to help the owner find his dog. The owner was immensely grateful to Furina and promised to change the dog's name immediately. Furina also got to pet the cute little dog; she was very happy playing with small animals.

It was a win-win situation.

Late at night, in Furina's room.

The room was pitch black. A lovely girl was covered by a quilt, which rose and fell evenly with her peaceful breathing as she slept in an elegant posture.

Rina secretly emerged from her body and stared at Furina.

'Furina's sleeping face is so pretty... hehe…'

After watching Furina sleep for five minutes with total satisfaction, Rina wiped away her drool and happily ran out of the room, arriving at the kitchen of the Palais Mermonia.

'Milk, eggs, flour, sugar... the ingredients should all be here. Good, let's start.'

After being busy for over an hour, two exquisite cakes were finished by Rina. She restored the kitchen to its original state and returned to Furina's room.

Rina had made two cakes; one was a red strawberry cake, the outermost layer made of pudding and strawberry powder, garnished with a Rainbow Rose; the other was a blue blueberry cake, garnished with a Lumidouce Bell.

It was the same kind of flower found on Rina's clothes.

She used the Hydro to seal the cakes from the air to prevent them from spoiling. After finishing all this, Rina quietly slipped back into the Inner Space.

The entire Palais Mermonia remained silent, as if nothing had happened.

Only the chefs of the Palais Mermonia might spend a lifetime failing to figure out why the ingredients mysteriously decreased after just one night.

The next morning, the girl slowly climbed out of bed. Furina rubbed her sleepy eyes and as soon as she looked up, discovered two small cakes that looked freshly baked sitting on her table.

These cakes were exactly to Furina's liking and her eyes practically turned into hearts.

"Wow! These little cakes look delicious. I wonder who sent them." Furina was very excited and hurried off to wash up.

Five minutes later, Furina finished grooming herself and couldn't wait to run to the table.

Furina took out a small spoon, scooped a bit and put it in her mouth.

The moment she tasted the cake, its sweetness melted in her mouth—sweet but not cloying. Furina was instantly shocked.

A smile immediately bloomed on her face; it was the expression of happiness one has when eating the best cake in their heart.

"Yes, this is the taste! The most delicious dessert in the world. Which pastry chef made this? I want to grant them an audience!"

Furina cried out excitedly. Fortunately, her room's soundproofing was good, or the entire Palais Mermonia would have heard her.

Rina secretly watched Furina eating happily, a rare satisfied smile appearing on her own face.

"Other Me, come and eat too." While eating the delicious cake, Furina habitually called out to Rina to join her.

Good friends share good food, after all.

After a week of Furina's training (referring to taking her to eat cake every night), Rina had also grown fond of desserts.

However, Rina did not appear as she usually did.

Furina found it strange and ran into the Inner Space, only to find Rina secretly hiding and laughing. For a moment, the scene became awkward.

Furina thought for a moment. This plate of cakes wasn't here last night and no one would sneak into the Hydro Archon's room in the middle of the night to deliver cake. Plus, she had begged Rina to make cakes for her before. Suddenly, a suspicion formed in Furina's mind.

"Other Me, did you make these delicious cakes for me?" Furina asked tentatively.

'No... absolutely not!' Rina turned her head away, refusing to admit it.

Furina: Well, that confirms it.

Furina looked at Rina with admiration, shaking her hand. "Other Me, you're so amazing! Can you make cakes for me again in the future?"

Seeing she had been found out and having her hand shaken by Furina, Rina suddenly felt embarrassed. A slight blush crept onto her face as she stammered. 'Fine... fine... I'll make as many as you want in the future.'

"Wow, Other Me, you're the best!" Furina jumped for joy.

After Furina finished granting audiences to three citizens, she just wanted to take a breath and rest when Cecily followed her in.

"Lady Furina, I have not failed my mission. We have completed the task. The Gray River is the place where the lower-class people live after Fontaine's urban optimization. You can read the details of its history in this file." Cecily said, handing a document to Furina.

"The current situation is that the Gray River lost its former leader, a man named Eduardo, during the Siege of Poisson. Currently, there is no primary leader, internal management is chaotic, and life is difficult. There is a significant divide between them and The Court Of Fontaine. While there are many suffering ordinary citizens, there are also many hardened criminals who came out of the Fortress of Meropide. Report complete."

Cecily looked at Furina seriously; she would complete every task meticulously.

Furina flipped through the history of the Gray River and Poisson, while Rina quietly watched along with her from the Inner Space.

"We have to go to the Gray River." Closing the file, Furina also became serious. She could not bear to see her people suffering.

'Furina, don't be in such a hurry. The situation there is complex. I suggest you decide on a strategy for handling the Gray River and make full preparations before heading out.' Rina's timely reminder calmed Furina down.

"You're right. I need to go see Neuvillette first."
