Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Stormterror vs. Giant Wolf 2: Mondstadt Rises

On the plaza, the battle between the two giant beasts was shocking. The giant wolf's gaping maw, seemingly capable of swallowing the heavens and earth, bit heavily into Stormterror's shoulder and violently flung him away.

As the dragon's body once again slammed onto the ground, half of Mondstadt's buildings trembled. Tiles slid down slightly, and even the originally solid stone-paved streets loosened, making clattering sounds with each vibration.

Dvalin propped himself up, intending to counterattack, but the giant wolf pounced and pinned him to the ground.

After the dragon fell, countless anemo bullets instantly formed. Lumine and the others had seen this skill in Stormterrors Lair, but back then, each shot required one person's full effort to defend against. Now, even with continuous attacks on the giant wolf, they couldn't leave a noticeable mark on its carapace.

Dragon's Breath gathered in the dragon's mouth, but the giant wolf's barbed Tail whipped at its face again and again. Then, the giant wolf's Tail coiled tightly around the dragon's neck, and with a powerful Swing, it slammed him onto the ground on the other side.

The dragon had considered flying into the air, but at such close range, whenever he tried to take off, the giant wolf would bite his wing and forcefully drag him down.

Unlike Barbara and the others who were repenting their mistakes, Lumine and Skirk, who always heard Orion rambling about being a Giant Spider, didn't participate in the discussion at all.

Skirk walked over to Lumine and Paimon and whispered, "See anything?"

Lumine pondered for a moment: "This looks like the Wolf of the North Wind."

Paimon also agreed, interjecting, "I think so too! But it's several times bigger than Andrius."

Skirk also looked at the giant wolf, who wasn't using any skills and was purely brawling, and said, "His power level hasn't changed much from his human form. According to his description, his true form shouldn't be this weak.

So I'm guessing this is some kind of external transformation or mimicry. Perhaps he's experimenting with his new power?"

"So this isn't his true form either? But that makes sense, he said he was a Giant Spider," Paimon said, pointing at Orion, then nodded to herself.

Skirk looked at the two giant beasts fighting and said, "But the crux of the matter is still the Abyssal Power. Now, Stormterror is completely integrated with the Abyssal Power within him. Without the previous blood scab, it's difficult for us to find an opening that can absorb the Abyssal Power."

Clara stood beside them, hesitating to speak. More than analyzing the situation, she wanted to go up and help, but even Mr. Svarog said that they couldn't help at all if they went up now. This kind of battle was too primitive and wild.

But she still walked up and tugged on Lumine's arm: "Sister Lumine, let's still tell Brother Orion. Maybe he'll have a solution."

...Skirk wasn't wrong. For Orion, both the eighteen-year-old adult form and the giant wolf form were actually mimicry. Only the UFO Spider form and the Shota form were considered his true form and transformed form.

And ever since Orion tried to attack with anemo element power and found that he inflicted immune on the entrenched Stormterror, he completely gave up on elemental attacks and switched to the most primitive brawling.

I came here to test the changes in anemo element power. If you don't let me use it, then what's there to say? Just don't use any of it, that's all.

So every time Stormterror wanted to use an elemental attack, he would forcefully interrupt him.

Originally, Orion wanted to try and see if his elemental power could change when combined with the Wolf King's power he had analyzed. As a result, it turned into a monster battle.

The giant wolf's claws grabbed Stormterror's dragon horns, slamming its head against the ground again and again.

Crown, crown, I'll let you crown! I can't use elemental power, so no one else can either!

Everyone fight bare-handed!

Suddenly, Orion heard Lumine shout at him, "Orion! You have to find a way to absorb the Abyssal Power from him!"

Orion suddenly turned to look at Lumine, his dark blue pupils seemingly filled only with wildness, making it impossible for people to tell if he still possessed his sanity.

At the moment he turned his head, Stormterror flapped his wings and finally flew high into the sky. In an instant, immense anemo element power gathered around him. The giant dragon, high in the sky, drew a huge magic circle using the anemo element power in the air as its base.

In an instant, a full fifteen "Roar of the Withered Wind" condensed in the air, and a pungent odor began to fill the atmosphere.

Those sheltering in buildings were fine, but everyone in the open space held their breath, and some had even started to experience nausea and dizziness.

Venti stretched out his palm to feel it, his expression turning serious: "The Abyss wants to wipe out everything. This attack not only concentrates destructive power in one place, but even the atmospheric composition has changed.

The concentration of harmful gases like acids and aldehydes has risen, and ozone pollution has even started to appear."

He looked gravely in Stormterror's direction: "He wants to destroy Mondstadt along with Orion, even at the cost of turning Mondstadt itself into a dead land!"

Life is unexpectedly tenacious, yet also unexpectedly fragile. The rise or fall of a certain substance in the atmosphere can lead to mass extinctions; a breath of pure oxygen, a breath of ozone, or a breath of carbon dioxide is enough to cause a collapse in a creature's internal system, causing irreversible damage to the individual.

And at this moment, Stormterror intended to destroy Mondstadt's oxygen while releasing its roar, and simultaneously increase the proportion of other harmful gases, thoroughly turning Mondstadt into a dead land!

But the giant wolf's mouth stretched into a strange smile.

What, if you can't beat me in power, you start comparing mechanics? Who are you looking down on!

Ideal Fluid! Activate!

Centered around the giant wolf, a gentle, swift-flowing green wind spread outwards. People who had experienced adverse reactions from the new gas poisoning gradually recovered, and the gas content in the atmosphere, as well as other air components, returned to normal levels.

Regardless of its nature as an elemental skill, the effect of this move itself includes healing. In Honkai Impact 3rd, the Fourth Divine Key was also used to restore the Earth's environment. For Orion, eliminating pollution and restoring atmospheric health, while not able to cover the entire planet, was simple for the mere scope of Mondstadt.

But Stormterror's attack was not over. Fifteen "Roar of the Withered Wind" converged, and a fifteenfold explosive impact shot towards Orion!

Orion, however, suddenly looked up. No expression could be seen on the giant wolf's face, only a pair of eyes glowing with almost perfectly round, eerie light.

"I'll avoid your edge?!"

Orion, whose appearance was almost entirely modeled after Andrius, naturally also possessed structures similar to jet nozzles on the Wolf King's shoulders, and they were even larger in size.

He had discussed the use of this structure with the Wolf King before. For the Wolf King, it was just a decorative component, but Orion didn't think so.

He concentrated anemo element power in the two jet nozzles, and immense anemo element power surged out like a torrent. The enormous thrust completed the acceleration in just an instant.

The giant wolf's body produced a sonic boom almost the moment it left the ground. Its massive body, from the waist down, was almost entirely enveloped in a sonic boom cloud. The enormous blue flame giant wolf, at a speed exceeding Mach 10, charged directly at Stormterror, enduring the fifteenfold Dragon's Breath!

Stormterror finally showed an indescribable look of terror. He wanted to stop his attack and turn to flee, but it was too late.

The giant wolf broke through the wind barrier, its gaping maw viciously biting into his neck, and with an elegant parabola, it dragged the dragon down into Wine Lake.

The two enormous creatures plunged, their weight exceeding 400,000 tons impacting the water like a missile exploding in the lake. Giant waves, over twenty meters high, crashed towards the surrounding shores like moving high walls.

Fortunately, Mondstadt City was protected by its City Walls, but all facilities outside the city were instantly destroyed by the giant waves and carried into the lake by the backflow.

Even so, the low-lying area of Mondstadt City's North Gate was still swept by the waves, and streams of lake water flowed in, leaving many affected fish on the shore.

Grand Master Jean and others led numerous Knights and clergy to the City Walls to assess the situation.

They saw the Blue Flame Wolf tightly biting Stormterror's neck in the lake north of Mondstadt City, continuously drawing out a purplish-black energy.

Can't suck it out without a wound? Then just create a wound!

However, the Abyssal Power within Stormterror sensed that it was being continuously absorbed and began to violently resist, controlling the dragon's body.

Orion's eyes narrowed. He slightly used a skill from his true form; a low-power Flame Bullet, an inherent skill, converged and directly blasted Stormterror's neck at point-blank range.

With just one strike, the lake water within a two-hundred-meter radius, centered on Orion, instantly boiled! A large amount of steam obscured Orion and the dragon's figures, leaving only vague silhouettes.

And the dragon instantly lost consciousness, no longer struggling.

Lisa immediately leaned out from the city wall, looking towards the bridge. After a moment, she retracted her body, saying with surprise and gravity, "With that one strike, the water level of the entire Starfell Lake dropped by about three meters."

This statement silenced everyone on the city wall, from the Knights of Favonius to the Church.

Just one strike, even with energy dissipating after attacking the dragon, evaporated three meters of water from the entire lake.

Nearly two million Kelvin of heat, charged, ignited, and fired in an instant.

This scale of battle could probably only be glimpsed occasionally during the Archon War, a time full of Gods who could move mountains and reshape terrain with a single battle, couldn't it?

This was undoubtedly a power beyond human comprehension.

Jean looked at this scene and asked with some concern, "Will he himself be affected? And is that black energy what they call the Abyss? Is it okay to absorb it like this?"

Skirk replied from the side, "Abyssal Power is like a water intake. Once it's breached, a continuous stream of Abyssal Power will pour out from that opening. This is also why Dvalin became more and more deeply corrupted.

What Orion is doing is draining all the water from the pond, then finding the intake and plugging it. But..."

Grand Master Jean's body trembled: "But what?"

Skirk's expression didn't change, but his right hand tightened around his longsword: "Abyssal Power can very easily corrode one's mind. We need to be prepared; there's a certain probability that we might face a Orion whose sanity has been corroded."
