Life in Drak'thar settled into a rhythm that would have seemed impossible just weeks earlier.
The Palace was no longer a place of crisis management and cosmic negotiation. It was home. Owen moved through the corridors with Yuki, checking on Lord in the morning, meeting with Gorvax about the child's education in the afternoon, and sitting in the courtyard in the evening watching the hatchlings play.
It was ordinary. Domestic. Profoundly strange given what Lord was.
But it was also necessary.
Three weeks after the accord was finalized, Odessa approached Owen with a proposal.
"The hatchery is empty," she said simply. "We built it years ago when we first arrived on Drak'thar, but we never fully activated it. With the five hatchlings preparing to enter the Tower of Royals, we have the capacity to develop new eggs."
Owen considered this.
"You want to breed more dragons," he said.
