Ezra
The carriage rolled to a stop at the edge of the village. Allen stepped out first, then offered me his hand. I took it and jumped down beside him.
The place was full of life. People were literally everywhere. There were a lot of traders carrying baskets, kids running between stalls, and the smell of fresh bread and smoke filled the air. There was something so nostalgic about it. It'd been a while since I got a taste of true, authentic local living.
Allen turned to the two guards who had followed on horseback and spoke in a low tone. "Remain undercover but stay alert. Keep your distance unless it's necessary."
They nodded and soon melted into the crowd. Allen took my hand again, and we started walking.
A part of me was afraid that Allen would ask me to show him places in the village.
