That's right. I don't even remember when I started getting that strange title—King of the Cursed Tools. Or in Japanese, Jugu no Ō.
The title didn't just appear out of nowhere. It began spreading slowly after the auction some time ago, like a rumor people initially dismissed as nothing more than passing wind, only to gradually turn into something frequently discussed among Sorcerers. Especially after the appearance of a certain Cursed Tool that caused quite a stir in the Jujutsu world.
A tool whose ability sounded almost absurd.
A tool capable of converting Cursed Energy into Positive Energy.
That object was known as the *Positive Energy Bottle*, a Cursed Tool shaped like a simple thermos with a smooth, dark surface. Inside it, cursed energy—normally wild and dangerous—could be transformed into stable, liquid positive energy. That energy could then be used to heal the wounds of Jujutsu Sorcerers, even injuries that were previously considered difficult to treat.
Its effects were undeniably real.
Because of that item, many Sorcerers who would have otherwise died from severe injuries could now be saved. In some cases, even those on the brink of death were pulled back, all thanks to a single drop of liquid from that bottle.
Not a small number of lives had been preserved because of it.
And as always, the Jujutsu world was never stingy when it came to giving out exaggerated titles.
Because of that, people began calling the creator of those strange Cursed Tools by a title that sounded far too grand.
King of the Cursed Tools.
When I first heard that title, I was genuinely embarrassed. Even now, that feeling hasn't changed much.
Damn it. Why did they have to give someone such a ridiculous title?
A king? And a king who makes Cursed Tools, of all things?
It felt incredibly strange, awkward, and a little laughable. Every time I thought about it, I had the urge to cover my own face out of embarrassment.
"Haaah…" I let out a slow sigh, a long breath as if trying to push those unnecessary thoughts away.
Anyway, now wasn't the time to think about things like that.
What I needed to do was meet the members of the Zenin Clan and negotiate with them regarding Maki and Mai. That was my main objective. Everything else could be thought about later—or better yet, forgotten entirely.
"I know, so don't worry," I said while nodding to Shizuka and Rika. My voice had returned to its usual steady tone, showing that I was focused again on what needed to be done.
Mei Mei spoke again, her voice as calm as ever, though there was a hint of seriousness beneath it.
"Then just head to the designated location," Mei Mei said, looking straight at me. "There should already be a member of the Zenin Clan waiting for you there."
"I understand." I nodded without hesitation.
After that, I didn't waste any more time.
Without saying another word, I immediately used my ability to move to the predetermined location. The energy around me trembled for a brief moment, and the space surrounding me felt as though it folded in on itself. In the blink of an eye—I vanished from that place.
However, I didn't head straight to the main destination.
Instead, I first appeared at an intermediate point—a remote forest somewhere in Japan.
The air there felt colder, carrying the damp scent of soil and leaves that filled my senses. Tall trees grew densely, their branches intertwining to form a natural canopy that blocked out most of the sunlight. Long shadows stretched across the ground, creating a quiet and slightly somber atmosphere.
There was almost no sound except for the rustling of wind passing through the leaves.
This place was far from human settlements, and almost no one ever came here. Even the cursed energy in the area felt minimal, making it an ideal location to hide—or simply move through without drawing attention.
A place like this was perfect for a midway point—a neutral location that very few people knew about.
I stood still for a moment, my eyes scanning the surroundings with caution. Every shadow, every faint sound, I observed them all carefully.
If asked why I had to come to a place like this first, the reason was actually quite simple.
All of this was for safety.
I wasn't foolish enough to just walk straight into the main territory of the Zenin Clan without making any preparations. A clan of that size would undoubtedly have various surveillance methods, both visible and hidden.
And if I let my guard down even for a moment, it could turn into a problem.
That was why I chose to arrive in this forest first—steadying my breath, making sure no one was following me, and preparing my next steps more carefully.
Teleportation was indeed very useful, especially in situations like this—fast, efficient, and almost impossible to stop if used properly. In a single step, I could cross distances that would take others hours, even days.
However, in this world, there were always exceptions. Certain individuals were capable of tracking energy traces, reading residual spatial distortions, or recognizing the patterns left behind by teleportation.
If I were to move directly from our temporary base in Akiruno City to another location without any preparation, there was a chance that someone skilled enough could follow the trail of my teleportation little by little—like following faint footprints on snow—until they eventually discovered the location of that base.
And of course, that was not something I wanted to see happen.
That was why I always used a simple yet effective method as a precaution—something that had already become a habit.
I would first move to an intermediate point—a place that was distant, remote, quiet, and had no connection whatsoever to our base, neither geographically nor through energy traces. Places like an empty forest, an abandoned field, or a rarely visited outskirts.
After arriving at that point, I wouldn't immediately teleport again. Instead, I would run away from my arrival point first, allowing my energy traces to disperse and weaken, creating enough distance before using teleportation once more. The wind, dust, and environmental interference would help distort any lingering traces.
Then I would move again to another location.
After that, I would once again run away from my arrival point, crossing different terrains—solid ground, dense shrubs, even narrow paths—blending my presence with the environment before moving on to the next place.
I repeated this process several times, with a deliberately irregular pattern to make it difficult to predict or analyze.
Only after three teleportations and several fairly long manual movements would I finally head to my actual destination.
This way, if someone truly tried to track me, the traces they found would only lead to random places—silent forests, empty areas, or meaningless regions—that had absolutely no connection to my true destination.
This method might seem a bit troublesome, even excessive to some people who were overly confident in their abilities.
However, compared to the risk of exposing the location of our base directly to unknown parties, this method was far safer. After all, in a world filled with dangerous individuals like this, a single small mistake was enough to invite disaster that could not be undone.
That was why I moved through several different locations first, ensuring that not a single trace could be easily followed, before finally arriving at a city.
Chiba City.
I appeared at a place not far from a café that looked fairly crowded. The faint murmur of conversations mixed with the clinking of cups and the aroma of coffee drifting through the air, creating a stark contrast to the silent journey I had just gone through.
