The rage in his voice terrified everyone in the room. Even the shop owner instinctively stepped backward. Onscreen, Maxwell carried Ruby into another taxi before disappearing.
Max grabbed the desk so hard it nearly cracked beneath his hands. "He drugged her," he said furiously. "That bastard drugged my wife." Samuel quickly forced himself to stay calm.
"Trace that second taxi." Already working, Samuel pulled up traffic feeds rapidly. The taxi appeared on multiple cameras moving away from the hospital district.
Then suddenly. Nothing. The feed ended near an older highway with fewer active cameras. Samuel cursed quietly under his breath.
"We lost them." Max turned sharply toward him. "What do you mean you lost them?"
"Some roads outside the city don't have surveillance coverage," Samuel answered tightly while still typing rapidly. "The signal disappears there."
Max's breathing became dangerous now. Every second Ruby spent with Austin Sparrow felt unbearable.
