Originally, One was a character without a name. Even when I wrote the first chapters, I still hadn't found a name for him, nor for the work itself.
It all started from an idea, but with no anchor point.
Then, while rewatching One Punch Man once again, I thought to myself:
What if I just called him ONE? It's a very simple name. ONE.

KOTOBE
He was supposed to be named Gomi — like Gomi-bako (ごみ箱), which means "trash can" in Japanese.
But at the last moment, I decided to change it following an error.
An error of feeling that gave birth to our dear Kotobe.

PINKY
Pinky was meant to remain arrogant, due to her status as a protected little princess.
But after revising her backstory in the auxiliary episode [ONE: Valentine's Day Special Episode], she brought a more down-to-earth dynamic.
To justify the change compared to the beginning of the tournament, it can be explained by the fact that she accepted two idiots like ONE and Kotobe, which softened her view of others.
And also her sublime fight against Viper, which taught her a great deal — even her mother says she has changed a lot since that fight.

NAGATO
Nagato was eventually supposed to appear more often with our friends, to show how close they are.
Nagato is not a simple secondary character. If he's on the cover, it's not for nothing.

CAPTAIN MAN
As you may have understood, Captain Man is a monument in his own right. But why is he ranked N°5?
It cannot be explained solely by popularity.
Because if we only took that factor into account, he would remain first.
