XU WUTAO
Xueya didn't show her emotions very often, so seeing her widely stretched lips was enough to tell me I did well. At least in one person's eyes. Through our brief moment of mirth, I didn't notice that Lu Ba had stiffened beside us.
"What job is it?" He had to ask the one question I was not ready to answer. At least not while standing this close to him. The room suddenly grew cold.
"What?" I dragged as I pulled myself out of Xueya's arms. I combed a guilty hand through my hair, and as discretely as possible, backed away from him.
"Wutao…" He called in distress, bringing me to a halt. His forehead had formed lines of worry, causing his brows to knot together. I blew out a sigh as I set my sight on his neck. It'd be easier to say if I wasn't meeting his eyes.
"They said it won't be dangerous." I began, already scratching the back of my neck. "And—and it pays really well… and—and—"
"Out with it, son."
"It's a pleasure house!" I shouted, my eyes instinctively shutting.
