Inside the barrier-shielded cave, a small campfire crackled warmly. Taiichi, Yohei, and Saori sat gathered around it. The two teammates listened with rapt attention as Taiichi spoke—this was deep Uchiha clan territory, the kind of secret most outsiders never heard in their lifetime.

"I pulled this information from the materials Teacher Tsunade left behind," Taiichi began, establishing his source right away.

After all, your worst enemies often knew you better than your friends.

The Senju and Uchiha had been at each other's throats since the Warring States era, all the way through Konoha's founding. Even afterward, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, had remained deeply wary of the Uchiha. No one could believe the Senju hadn't studied the Sharingan extensively.

"The Uchiha Sharingan evolves through intense emotional trauma—usually the death of someone close. The overwhelming mental shock generates special chakra in the brain that triggers a qualitative change in the eyes."

"That's also why the Uchiha are known as the cursed clan." Taiichi paused to let Yohei absorb the basics before continuing.

"Most Uchiha top out at three tomoe. But every generation has its geniuses." Taiichi looked directly at Yohei, genuinely impressed. He never expected his friend to have this kind of talent. If Madara Uchiha were still around, Obito would've never gotten a shot.

"Beyond three tomoe lies the Mangekyo Sharingan. It possesses far greater ocular power, and each pair comes with its own unique techniques." Taiichi studied Yohei carefully. "I bet you've already sensed the special ability hidden in your eyes, haven't you?"

Yohei nodded eagerly and opened his mouth to speak, but Taiichi quickly raised a hand to cut him off.

"Don't say it out loud. Never tell anyone about your specific Mangekyo ability. Some techniques are incredibly powerful or have strange effects—keeping them completely secret is the safest move." Taiichi's tone was dead serious.

Once Yohei nodded in understanding, Taiichi continued. "Every Mangekyo also shares one ultimate trump card: the ability to summon Susanoo—a colossal warrior said to possess god-like power."

"Legend has it that it can destroy heaven and earth. The Uchiha's former clan leader, Madara Uchiha, used his Susanoo to dominate the other four great ninja villages."

Yohei's eyes lit up with excitement. If the situation weren't so serious, Taiichi figured he'd be dashing outside right now to test his new eyes.

That's why Taiichi immediately doused him with cold water.

"But the Mangekyo has one major flaw. The more you use it, the more your vision blurs—until you eventually go completely blind."

"What?!" Yohei shot to his feet, eyes wide. "How is that possible? Then what's the point of these eyes?!"

Saori gasped and covered her mouth, equally shocked.

Yohei stared at Taiichi desperately, clearly hoping he'd say it was all a joke. But Taiichi's solemn expression killed that hope instantly.

The crushing disappointment hit hard. During today's fight, Yohei had been forced to watch helplessly as Taiichi faced the enemy alone. He never wanted to feel that powerless again.

The Mangekyo had given him a massive power spike—nearly double the chakra, sharper senses, stronger body, and that mysterious new technique in his eyes. And now he learned it would eventually rob him of his sight? It was devastating.

But Yohei's mind was quick. He immediately spotted the loophole.

"Wait, Taiichi—if that's true, how did Madara Uchiha's eyes stay fine?"

"That's the other tragedy of the Sharingan," Taiichi said gravely. "To escape blindness, you need to evolve even further into the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan."

He met Yohei's gaze. "And the only way to achieve that… is by taking your brother's Mangekyo eyes and transplanting them into yourself."

Saori let out a horrified gasp. "That's… that's way too cruel!"

Yohei nodded, his face pale. "Taiichi, isn't there any other way?"

"Not that I know of right now," Taiichi admitted. "This is all from the records I studied. Whether there are other solutions… that'll take research." He offered a sliver of hope. "After all, this is the first time I've actually seen a real Mangekyo."

Yohei's expression flipped from despair to excitement in an instant. "Haha! Then we're good! I trust you completely, Taiichi. Whatever research you need to do, just use me as your guinea pig. I'll cooperate fully!"

Yohei's easygoing trust actually caught Taiichi off guard. Whether it was his personality or genuine faith in his friend—probably both.

But Taiichi wouldn't let him down. In the original timeline there were ways to avoid Mangekyo blindness. Hashirama cells were one method. Taiichi just didn't have access to them yet.

Besides, he had his own theories. If Yohei built up enough physical constitution and mental strength, the Mangekyo side effects might become manageable.

"I won't let you down," Taiichi promised seriously.

Just as Yohei started daydreaming about spamming his Mangekyo, Taiichi cut in again.

"Now that you know about the Mangekyo, let me explain why I told you not to breathe a word about it to anyone."

"Why?" Yohei asked blankly.

"Because its power is too overwhelming. Madara Uchiha set the precedent. The village leadership is terrified of another Uchiha gaining that kind of strength." Taiichi's voice dropped. "You must have noticed—there's a lot of hostility toward the Uchiha from certain high-ranking officials in the village."

Yohei nodded. He might be straightforward, but he wasn't stupid. He knew about the friction between the clan and the village.

"And why can't I even tell my family? Not even my parents?"

"Because the Uchiha have a history of rebellion," Taiichi said bluntly, watching Yohei flinch. "Most people don't know about it anymore, but both the village leadership and the Uchiha elders remember it clearly."

"Even now, there are radical factions within the Uchiha clan pushing for military takeover. That's exactly why the higher-ups are so wary of you guys."

"Think about it—if the Uchiha clan learned there was another Mangekyo user among them, what do you think they'd do?" Taiichi asked darkly.

Yohei shivered and immediately decided to keep his mouth shut. He knew his parents too well. Telling them meant telling the clan head, and once the head knew…

With that settled, Yohei moved on to the more practical concern. "Taiichi, can I still train with these eyes? If I have them but can't use them when it counts, what's the point?"

"Light training should be fine," Taiichi assured him. "Come find me every so often. I'll use medical ninjutsu to nourish your eyes and monitor their condition. That way we can control your training load safely."

He turned to both of them. "Also, keep practicing the basic taijutsu I taught you. A strong body is the foundation for everything. Once we're back at camp, I'll teach you a basic meditation technique to train your mental energy too."

Yohei and Saori brightened up immediately. They'd already felt the benefits of the taijutsu training. Yohei's easy Mangekyo awakening wasn't just talent—the physical conditioning had definitely helped.

Now they were getting meditation training on top of that? Yohei was already imagining himself dominating the battlefield.

Taiichi snapped them out of their daydreams and checked the time. "It's getting late. Go get some rest. I'll take first watch. You two can take over later."

The pair found comfortable spots and lay down. After the day's brutal fighting—especially Saori's serious injury—they were exhausted. Soft snores soon filled the cave.

Taiichi poked the fire, making it burn brighter. After confirming everything was quiet, he stepped outside the cave to reflect on the day's events.

Today's ambush had been incredibly dangerous. Without his attribute points and effectively unlimited chakra sustain, he would've died on that island.

The fight had relied on surprise Water Style, Wind Style, relentless bombardment, and his Fire Body technique. If the Cloud ninjas had split their forces to chase Yohei and Saori earlier, things could've ended very differently.

Thinking back on the battle and the escalating Third Great Ninja War, Taiichi knew he needed to adjust his strategy.

Attribute points were life-saving trump cards. Hoarding them made sense, but dumping them directly into stats was inefficient right now. Raising Constitution from 25 to 26 cost six points—way too expensive. Better to treat them like emergency batteries.

Skill points, however, should be spent more freely. He'd keep a few in reserve but use the rest to boost his strength fast. The war was coming, and enemies were getting more ruthless—ambushes today, poison or kidnapping tomorrow.

With that decided, Taiichi pulled up his attribute panel.

Today's battle had pushed his Chunin job level up two ranks to Lv7, giving him two more attribute points and skill points.

Now came the important part: how to allocate them.

He started by adding one skill point to his highest stat—Fire Nature Transformation.

As expected, it didn't jump straight to Lv13. Instead, it added 1,000 experience points.

A flood of insight confirmed what he suspected: past Kage-level, each skill point only granted 1,000 exp.

With that understanding, Taiichi optimized. He added points to Advanced Taijutsu, pushing it to Lv6—the Kage-level threshold.

The same for Advanced Meditation and Advanced Kenjutsu, both reaching Lv6.

A torrent of muscle memory and combat experience poured into his mind. Taiichi felt like he'd spent years training across mountains, valleys, and oceans, mastering every technique.

When he came back to himself, his body felt sharper. The level-up improved technique and efficiency dramatically. One unit of strength now produced nearly double the previous output, and training efficiency had roughly doubled.

He had 15 skill points remaining.

Rather than spreading them thin across nature transformations that were still far from Lv11, Taiichi decided to save enough to push them over the threshold later. The rest went into Sealing Technique.

After today's barrier trap, he refused to be caught like that again.

Four skill points later, Sealing Technique reached Lv11. The theoretical knowledge flooded in, but he'd still need to study actual sealing jutsu back in the village to put it into practice.

With his core abilities upgraded, it was time for the main event: the bloodline limit.

Looking at Ice Nature Transformation sitting at a pitiful Lv0 (15/100), Taiichi felt the difficulty of bloodline fusion all over again.

He'd been practicing whenever he had a spare moment, but progress was painfully slow. And it would only get harder.

The current situation didn't allow him to wait any longer.

He added one skill point.

Ice Nature Transformation instantly jumped to Lv5.

A miraculous change occurred inside his body.

Wind and Water nature chakra generated naturally, then merged in a complex, elegant dance. Taiichi observed the entire process from a god's-eye view, absorbing every secret.

The moment the first strand of Ice-natured chakra formed, something fundamental shifted deep in his cells—altering his very DNA.

The transformation was slow but unstoppable.

A wave of cold air radiated from Taiichi's body. Frost began forming on the cave walls and ground.

Thankfully the barrier contained it, or Yohei and Saori would've woken up instantly.

One hour later, the changes stabilized.

When Taiichi opened his eyes, a flash of icy blue passed through them.

He looked around at the frost-covered cave, slightly surprised, then focused on his own body.

The first thing he noticed was his chakra surging. Even though the rate had slowed, it was still visibly increasing.

He glanced at the panel.

[Chakra: 40,000 (50,740)]

His total reserves had jumped by 15,000, and daily maximum extraction had doubled to 50,740.

This was a complete rebirth. His chakra capacity was now four times that of a newly promoted Jonin.

Next:

Ice Nature Transformation Lv5 (1/800)

Probably influenced by his existing Wind and Water mastery, the new nature transformation had started at Lv5. Nice bonus.

He raised his right hand. An ice senbon formed instantly—not a jutsu, just raw chakra control and shape manipulation.

He flicked it. With a solid thunk, the needle embedded deeply into a tree ten meters away.

It held its shape perfectly. The ice was incredibly dense and hard.

Taiichi smiled. He wouldn't have to worry about running out of senbon or kunai anymore—he could make them on the fly.

As for actual Ice Release jutsu, having witnessed the fusion process gave him a flood of ideas. Once he had downtime, basic techniques would come easily.

He dispersed the cold air around him and continued testing.

Fire Release worked perfectly—no interference at all. Good.

The other natures showed minor improvements only in Wind, Water, and Ice. Everything else remained unchanged.

Whether this was normal for bloodline limits or a system perk, it was excellent news for Taiichi.

All upgrades complete, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction. If it weren't the middle of the night, he'd be outside testing everything immediately.

Looking up at the moon, it was time to wake Yohei and Saori for their watch shift.

They'd had most of the night to rest. Yohei especially would probably be dying to brag about his new Mangekyo eyes.

Heh. Fourteen years old and already has Mangekyo. Only two years later than Itachi, and with way milder side effects. People are gonna be jealous as hell.
