Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Swindler

The bar was filled with a lively atmosphere. A girl danced on the platform, showing a passionate dance that revealed her delicate white skin, making the guests who watched show a longing expression.

The bar was divided into two floors: the upper floor served as a motel, and the ground floor was the lively bar. Guests sometimes couldn't suppress their desire, asking the dancing girl to head to the second floor to release their desire.

While the joyful atmosphere was still at its peak, the door of the bar swung open, and a young man walked in.

The young man had a handsome appearance with black curly hair, sharp eyebrows, a straight nose, and eagle-like eyes. His slightly yellow skin made him give off the look of a man with experience. He wore a white-off linen shirt with rugged brown trousers. He was giving off a playboy aura.

Without bothering to look at anyone, he made his way straight to the bar counter.

After finding a spot to settle down, he immediately ordered, "One glass of Biuosis beer, please."

Upon seeing this young man, the bartender couldn't help but sigh with solemnity.

Not long after, the bartender came over with a glass of yellow liquid with bubbles still popping up. "3 qinc."

The young man picked up the glass and drank it in one gulp. With a smile on his face, he ordered another cup, "Another cup, please."

The bartender, who was currently wiping a glass, stole a glance at the young man. With an expressionless face, slowly he leaned over and muttered, "3 qinc."

The young man, who was surprised by the bartender's action, was stunned for a moment upon hearing his whisper. With a resentful look, he slowly took out a copper coin from his pocket and handed it over to the bartender.

"Tsk, it's just 3 qinc. Did you think I don't have money to pay you guys?"

In fact, 3 qinc was all the money that he had right now.

Whenever he came for a drink, he always borrowed other people's money, and sometimes he didn't even pay for a drink. Not only that, he even swindled the bartender to pay for his drink.

That's why the bartender was careful when seeing this young man.

The young man snorted coldly and turned to another man beside him. "Hey, brother, can you lend me some qinc? I will pay you back one day."

The term "one day" was, in fact, just a word to cover "never know what day."

The man savored his orange juice. Upon hearing this, he looked at the young man with a dumbfounded look and asked, "Who are you? And why do I have to hand some money to a stranger that I don't know?"

Upon hearing this, the young man grinned and proudly replied, "I am the descendant of a baron. My family held an aristocratic title in the royal faction, and I will soon become the next successor and inheritor of a thousand lands and millions in businesses.

As for my name, remember it deeply in your heart. Consider yourself extremely lucky today to hear my name. I am Ryan Gustuas."

"..."

The man was at a loss for words as he dumbfoundedly looked at Ryan Gustuas, the self-proclaimed descendant of a baron.

The bartender seemed to have heard these words countless times, as he continued wiping the glass and muttered to himself, "If you want to put up a lie, at least make it more realistic. Only a stupid person will believe you..."

"Wow, I didn't expect to meet a royal family member here. But why are you here in this shabby town instead of living in the capital?"

Ryan Gustuas seemed prepared for this, as he instinctively replied, "I am on vacation, and also heading out to experience the world as an adventurer. Thus, to experience the world, I must start from zero. That's why I want to borrow your money. Don't worry, I will pay you back tenfold."

It was the bartender's turn to be speechless. It seemed like another new customer got swindled today. Sigh...

From the bartender's thoughts, this wasn't the first time Ryan was using this trick. In fact, there were many cases with the same style and the same choice of words.

"Uhh, brother Ryan, I only have 12 qinc in my pocket right now. Can you accept it?"

"Well, that's fine. 12 qinc is enough. This lord will be sure to pay you back one day." After receiving the money, Ryan ordered another glass of Biuosis beer.

Soon, the bartender approached Ryan with a glass of orange liquid. After putting down the glass, the bartender immediately turned away and continued to serve other guests.

"Hey, did you know that in Biuosis Town, there are many abnormal things happening recently?

Ryan's interest was piqued as he caught a glimpse of the conversation between two guests.

As a person who had just moved to this town for a week, Ryan didn't know much about this town. All day he just strolled about between his hotel and this bar, having some free time to swindle others.

Aside from his way to the hotel and this bar, he didn't know a thing about this town.

"Ohh, what kind of abnormalities have occurred in this small town?" said a man with a muscular build, wearing hunter's attire with a bow and arrow behind his back.

From a glance, we could tell he was a hunter who had just come to this town for the first time.

"You didn't know? Recently, there has been a rumor circulating around the town that a monster appears at midnight and even ate 3 sheep from a shepherd. Not only that, there is a blood trail across a street alley suspected to be involved in a serial murder case."

Ryan, who was listening to the conversation, frowned slightly upon hearing this. But he couldn't confirm if the rumors were true or just some kind of mischief.

After all, living in this town for a full week didn't leave him completely clueless. Sometimes he stumbled upon the lingering odor of blood on the way to his motel, suspected to be related to a serial murder.

"Ohh, there's such a thing in this small town?" the hunter casually asked, as if he didn't truly believe this.

The other man who spread this information was a man in his early twenties. He had yellow skin with the local attire commonly seen in this town.

"Yes. How about this? If you want to know more, you can pay me some money for more details. After all, this information might be useful to you as a hunter. Moreover, you have just set your feet in this town for the first time," the man who shared the information said with a bright smile.

The hunter cast a cold glance at the man. Without responding, he swiftly finished the remainder of his drink in one gulp. Suddenly, the hunter stood up and swiftly grabbed the man's collar with one hand, hoisting him up from his chair.

Fear gripped the man as he shouted, "What... what are you doing?"

"What am I doing? I'm about to help the law clean up this swindler."

Despite all of this, everyone in the bar remained the same. The chatting was still ongoing, the waiters continued to serve, and the bartender was still wiping the glass. It was as if everything were normal.

But there were still a few guests who looked at the commotion with interest.

Ryan, having watched the event since the start, couldn't help but chuckle inwardly, "The art of being a swindler is always to put up a good performance before asking the audience for charity; otherwise, you'll leave no way out for yourself."

With that said, he finished his remaining liquid and approached the hunter with a measured pace.

The bartender stopped wiping the glass for a moment and looked at Ryan with interest, "I wondered when it would be his turn to get a beating, but now I finally get to see it."

Ryan stopped a few steps away from the hunter and uttered, "Hey, don't you think your actions are a form of violent public disturbance?"

The hunter was about to throw the man outside the bar when his actions came to a halt because of Ryan's words.

"Public disturbance? Who do you think you are to speak about the law in front of me?" The hunter turned to Ryan, his hand still firmly grabbing the man's collar.

"I am just doing a good deed and helping the law clean up this swindler. Do you think the law would punish me because of this?" The hunter laughed.

Ryan paid no heed to the hunter's hidden provocation; instead, he grinned. "Being a swindler doesn't mean someone is some kind of criminal or thief. And where is the evidence that this young man tried to swindle you?"

"Evidence? Everyone here clearly saw this man trying to trick me with his false information. Right, everyone?"

The man wanted to use everyone here as witnesses, but for some reason, no one looked at him. They kept chatting and watching, as if they were not aware of what happened.

Upon seeing that no one looked at him, the hunter showed a dumbfounded look. The young man hadn't received any money from him, nor was he trying to trick the hunter out of his money. He simply wished to get some money for sharing the information.

Now it was the hunter's turn to be speechless, not knowing what to say in this situation. From the start, he was the one who caused all of this.

"Hehe, now that you aren't saying anything, it means you don't have any evidence. Thus, you must pay compensation for hurting the man without any reason, causing a violent public disturbance, and committing slander."

"What's more, you were even trying to use the law as a shield. I wonder what will happen if the Law Court hears this." Ryan smiled coldly.

The hunter's face turned pale white when he heard the final sentence. Without any second thought, he asked with a trembling mouth, "How... how much should I pay for this?"

Ryan smiled even wider as he raised his two hands and showed his 10 fingers.

For some reason, the hunter's body suddenly turned cold upon seeing this smile. Swiftly, he took out 2 banknotes from his pocket, handed them to Ryan, and immediately departed from the bar, swearing to never enter this bar ever again in his entire life.

"Everyone here is a swindler!"
