"What?"
Diana's magic reached out towards Garfield.
She aimed to grab the Flerken by the scruff of its neck and seal its mouth.
As long as the Flerken could not open its mouth, it would be safe.
And she could happily pet the cat for a while.
Diana's attack was fierce, but Garfield was not an ordinary Flerken.
Having inherited part of Hela's divine power, Garfield's speed was comparable.
He turned his body and quickly evaded Diana's grasp.
He jumped into Peggy's arms, enjoying Peggy's powerful and warm embrace.
Peggy reached out and scratched Garfield's chin.
She looked bewildered at the flustered Diana who had failed to catch the cat.
"Diana, what is wrong?"
Diana widened her eyes and pointed at Garfield in Peggy's arms.
"This is a Flerken."
Peggy said, "A Flerken. I know. Garfield is amazing."
A ferocious Flerken from outer space was being held in the arms of a beautiful Earth girl.
She was casually scratching him, and he seemed to be enjoying it.
Diana suspected this might be a scheme by the beast, waiting for Peggy's family to lower their guard before plotting something bad.
But then again, something seemed off.
Peggy had told her that Garfield came to their home over ten years ago, when he was just a tiny kitten.
You know, Flerkens are very vulnerable when they are newborn.
They lack even a little food to survive.
Whether it was their appetite or the education of their elders, they might very well grow into pests that wreak havoc on the universe, following their own nature.
Seeing Diana's eyes darting around involuntarily, Garfield knew she was thinking.
And the content certainly was not good news.
"Little wife, I think you are thinking something bad. I am not the kind of low intelligence creature that only knows how to devour."
"Little wife?"
Peggy, Old James, Carl, and Diana all stared at Garfield's cat like face.
Diana questioned Garfield.
"Who are you calling little wife?"
Garfield replied, "You."
Diana was stunned.
Could it be that her dead father, Zeus, had promised her to a Flerken?
My God, impossible.
Unless this Flerken had lived for over a thousand years.
"You know my father?"
Garfield shook his head.
"Only a few of you are left in the Olympian pantheon. As for your father, he has already paid the price for his sins a thousand years ago."
A thousand years ago.
Old James and Peggy were both sensitive to information.
With just a single word, they could instantly grasp the true meaning and find the truth.
"It is fate and talent," Peggy said as she scratched Garfield.
"Garfield, what happened a thousand years ago?"
Garfield pointed at Diana.
"Diana's cheapskate father, Zeus, the father of the Olympian gods, almost got his entire Olympian pantheon wiped out because he could not play a fair game. As for those still alive, they cannot escape being killed in the future."
Wait a minute.
Old James's heart pounded.
He hurriedly opened a drawer and swallowed two nitroglycerin pills to calm his aging heart.
News of the gods.
If he were young, he would have scoffed at it.
But since he came into contact with these mystical matters, you could tell him that God was just sitting in some small church doing nothing every day, and he would believe it.
A fate of being killed.
Diana was very nervous.
This was not just her own affair.
It might also concern her people, the Amazons.
Diana nervously pulled Garfield from Peggy's arms.
She held him up to her face and stared intently into his eyes.
She asked urgently, "Tell me. Tell me what you know."
Garfield reached out and pressed his paw against Diana's seemingly weak but actually incredibly powerful hand.
It was soft and elastic, filled with divine power.
It appeared indistinguishable from human skin, yet it could withstand most of Earth's firearms.
Unless it was something like Uru metal imbued with divine power, it would not cause her any damage.
Using the soothing power of his orange tabby paw, Garfield spoke in a commanding tone, like Optimus Prime, telling Diana,
"The Amazons were merely created and will not participate in this hatred. Your fate is different. You must fight against the infamous Apokolips, their ruler Darkseid, and Steppenwolf, among others."
Apokolips.
Darkseid.
Steppenwolf.
Diana had heard Vulcan mention Steppenwolf before.
Now that Garfield brought it up again, she felt a sense of foreboding.
Garfield crawled out of Diana's arms.
He raised his paw and used magic to draw the likenesses of Steppenwolf and Darkseid.
"The Dark Lord. The strongest new god. Ruler of Apokolips. A giant standing 2.67 meters tall. One of the most powerful tyrants in the multiverse. He has conquered many universes and destroyed many others. A powerful, brutal, and intelligent enemy."
"Steppenwolf. A member of the ruling group of Apokolips. A member of Darkseid's elite. Darkseid's uncle. Steppenwolf is the brother in law of Yuga Khan, the ruler of Apokolips."
"He is also one of the oldest members of the New Gods. His real name has long been forgotten. He has abandoned his original name and refers to himself as Steppenwolf in the universe."
"He is a general of Apokolips and Darkseid's confidant. He possesses the physiological functions of the New Gods. Super strength, super speed, super reaction speed, super endurance, and immortality."
Peggy exclaimed, "Immortality? How is that possible?"
Garfield explained, "It is not that he is immortal forever. He needs to exhaust his own life force or be killed by someone."
"And of course, the other person's soul must be erased. Steppenwolf is very strong, little wife. Do not be eager to try. You cannot beat him now."
Diana was naturally unconvinced when Garfield said she could not beat Steppenwolf.
She raised her head and puffed out her chest.
"I have improved a lot."
Indeed, she had improved a lot.
But she was still a bit younger than she needed to be.
She needed to keep working hard.
"Alright, little wife. I can tell you definitively that you cannot beat Steppenwolf right now. You need to train and grow. And Steppenwolf is not alone. He has conquered several universes from Apokolips. His army is so numerous it can be counted by the galaxy."
Diana looked stunned.
Garfield continued, "Of course, they cannot send that many. Crossing the multiverse and breaking through the cosmic wall requires astronomical amounts of energy."
"But if they manage to establish a bridgehead, things will get complicated. However, do not worry. As long as Odin is alive and the Sorcerer Supreme is still on Earth, we are safe."
Diana completely ignored Garfield's constant use of the term little wife.
Instead, she hugged him seriously and asked, "How do you know so much? Is there some way to stop all of this?"
