I groggily lift my head up from her thick, flowing mane. The pitch-black darkness of the night sky is gone, replaced by the deep, moody indigo of the ocean depths.
But we aren't gliding smoothly anymore—Lady Thalassara is diving through the water in chaotic zigzags, circling sharply through the currents.
"What... what are we doing back in the ocean?!" I call out over our mental link, rubbing my eyes behind my glasses. "What happened to me, Lady Thalassara?"
"Huh? Oh, you woke up, handsome?" her melodic voice echoes in my mind, sounding deeply amused despite her frantic movements. "Well, firstly, it is Lady Bestie for you! Secondly, you fell completely asleep right in the middle of our conversation. And lastly, we are currently in the exact center of the Maren Ocean. After scanning the surface from above and finding nothing, I decided to dive in to scan beneath the ocean's surface."
