Ruth nodded quietly, her fingers trembling as she stood beside the bed.
Sasha slid her arm beneath Elise's neck, raising her gently, as though she might break if handled any less carefully. Her body was still cold… too still and cold.
Slowly, carefully, they poured the last drops of Lucien's blood into Elise's mouth and watched it gently drip down her throat.
Ruth and Sasha sat there silently waiting for a miracle to happen.
