A Quiet Report
Later that night—
Natalie Rushman stood alone in a secure room, phone pressed to her ear.
"Report," Nick Fury said calmly.
Natalie exhaled slowly.
"There's someone close to Stark. Always there. Calm. Observant."
She paused.
"…His name is Alexander Ashborn."
Fury went silent for half a second.
Then—
"So you met him."
Natalie frowned. "You know him?"
"I know of him," Fury replied.
"Head of the Ashborn House. Wealthier than Stark. Political influence across multiple continents."
Natalie's grip tightened slightly.
"He doesn't move like a civilian," she said. "And he doesn't act like a threat."
Fury nodded on the other end.
"That's because he doesn't need to."
Natalie hesitated.
"…He sparred with me."
"And?"
"I didn't land a single hit."
Fury exhaled slowly.
"Yeah. That tracks."
Natalie swallowed.
Despite herself—
Her face warmed as Alex's image crossed her mind.
The silver hair.
Those impossible eyes.
She shook her head sharply.
Focus.
"Keep watching Stark," Fury ordered.
"And Ashborn."
"Yes, sir."
The call ended.
Natalie sat there for a moment longer—
Unsettled.
And inexplicably flustered.
Another Hunter Arrives
Across New York City, energy flared briefly in the upper atmosphere.
Carol Danvers landed quietly on a rooftop, eyes glowing faintly as she scanned the skyline.
"Okay," she muttered.
"Phoenix Monarch… let's see what you're hiding."
Every trace led to the same thing—
A man who shouldn't exist on any cosmic registry.
No conquest.
No empire.
No wars.
Yet—
Every god knew his name.
Carol smiled faintly.
"Oh, this is going to be interesting."
Wakanda's Princess in the City
Not far away—
Shuri leaned over a holographic projection in a discreet Wakandan outpost.
The same signature appeared again.
Controlled.
Ancient.
Centered.
"New York," she confirmed happily.
She straightened, eyes bright with curiosity.
"A protector with universe-level authority who doesn't want attention?"
She grinned.
"I have to meet him."
Convergence
Three paths.
One city.
One man walking quietly through it all—
Unaware, or simply unconcerned, that the universe was slowly circling back to him.
The Phoenix Monarch remained unseen.
But not for long.
