Ronin didn't care what Owl was thinking.
The chakra threads pierced easily into Owl's body, and in the next second, no sound could come out of Owl's open mouth.
Neon, very perceptive, stepped forward and untied the ropes binding Owl.
Ronin gave her an approving look. With a slight twitch of his fingers, Owl stood up from the chair.
Kurapika flicked his chain and simply returned Owl's ability to him.
Ronin watched closely. Soon, aura rose from Owl, and a large bundle cloth rapidly materialized in Owl's hands.
The only thing was—Owl's body still looked stiff and unnatural.
The cloth draped over the chair. The instant it covered it, the chair twisted and shrank. In less than a second, it stopped, leaving only a tiny cloth bundle where the chair had been—small enough to pinch between two fingers.
"Not bad." Ronin smiled with satisfaction.
But that smile looked a little villainous—both to Neon and to Kurapika.
Even so, Neon couldn't help marveling at Ronin's methods.
"Your abilities really are endlessly changeable—like anything you want can be done. What a magical Specialist ability," Neon said, a little envious.
In their group, she was the only natural-born awakener who was purely Specialist.
The other two were basically monsters.
Ronin didn't bother explaining—and even if he did, the two of them probably wouldn't understand.
"Let's go." Ronin made another large bundle cloth appear in Owl's hands.
This time, instead of covering something else, the cloth dropped straight over Owl's own head.
In the next second, Owl vanished from everyone's sight.
Only Ronin's chakra threads still connected to Owl—running into the little cloth bundle.
Ronin wound the chakra threads around his pinky, then stuffed the "Owl bundle" into his ninja-tool pouch. The chakra threads were still somewhat noticeable, but it was still decent camouflage.
Compared to the massive advantage of being able to force Owl to use Incredible Convenient Large Bundle Cloth, this tiny drawback was nothing. Ronin could accept it.
Adan Hotel was a well-known upscale hotel in Yorknew.
People who stayed there were either rich or powerful.
After the Ten Dons' meeting ended, Raymond returned to Adan Hotel—because this hotel was one of his properties.
That hidden manor was safe, but nothing felt safer than being on his own turf.
What a pity—Owl was probably dead. That meant the only usable subordinate left under him was a Shadow Beast reserve: Mole.
Mole was a short demi-human whose hands looked nothing like human hands.
He'd always been held down by Owl, but he was still a top-tier fighter in the mafia world. Now that Owl was likely dead, he naturally started thinking about moving up.
But he'd also heard that Raymond's proposed "next generation Shadow Beasts" didn't include him, which he couldn't understand.
Raymond had no intention of explaining to Mole.
Instead, he was actively contacting assassins. The Ten Dons had already approved hiring professional killers to deal with the Phantom Troupe.
Raymond had hired the Zoldyck family before.
Their efficiency was unquestionable, service was excellent—only the price was brutal.
But Raymond had never lacked money.
So when he thought "hire an assassin," his first thought was the Zoldycks.
"Honestly, as long as we can separate them, I'm confident I can solo-kill a Troupe member," Mole couldn't help speaking up.
His tiny eyes gleamed with craftiness.
If the money meant for hiring assassins went directly to him, he could complete the job more perfectly than any "professional killer."
He couldn't beat Owl, but he was confident he could crush Worm among the Shadow Beasts.
Too bad only one Shadow Beast member could represent each Ten Don. As long as Owl pressed him down, Mole had no chance of ever becoming a Shadow Beast.
As for the Shadow Beasts being wiped out by the Phantom Troupe…
In Mole's view, it was because they were stupid and arrogant.
If it were him, even if he was stronger, he would've chosen an ambush—not mixed in with ordinary gunmen to attack the Troupe head-on.
Raymond frowned.
But before he could say anything, a sudden scoffing laugh sounded in the room.
"You little winter-melon midget want to challenge the Phantom Troupe? Don't make me laugh," Ronin said.
He came in through the window.
With Earth Style: Ultralight-Weight Rock Jutsu, his mobility was absurd.
He hadn't expected that the moment he arrived, he'd hear such an insanely arrogant statement from that "winter melon."
The sloppy Ten on Mole's body, in Ronin's eyes, was basically the same level as those crippled, "baptized" challengers in Heavens Arena.
Not worth mentioning.
So what confidence did this guy have, thinking he could deal with the Phantom Troupe?
Was he planning to tell jokes until they died laughing?
"Who are you?" Mole at least did his job as a bodyguard: he stepped in front of Raymond the instant he saw Ronin.
He also revealed his sharp claws.
Aura gathered on those claws, making them look somewhat intimidating.
Raymond, however, recognized Ronin immediately.
"Ronin, right?" Raymond maintained the calm and composure of a mafia boss. "If you're here, does that mean Owl sold me out?"
"You could say that." Ronin ignored Mole. "I think you already know what I want."
"If you kill me, the mafia won't stop hunting you," Raymond said coolly. "If you let me live, maybe we can cooperate."
He knew Mole was useless.
If he wanted to live today, he had to rely on himself.
Ronin shook his head. "Sorry. For me, you're best when you're dead."
Raymond's pupils tightened. His hand reached toward his waist—
But someone moved faster.
Mole.
The instant Ronin refused, Mole bolted.
Only he didn't bolt at Ronin.
He spun and ran for the door.
The moment he saw Ronin, by observing Ronin's aura, he understood the gap between them.
If he attacked Ronin, he would die.
But he was still too slow.
Because the instant he tried to flee, his eyes met Ronin's three-tomoe Sharingan.
Flames bloomed at Mole's feet. Soul-deep pain spread through his entire body.
Raymond's hand froze on the pistol at his waist.
Because he watched, clearly: Ronin didn't even move his hands, yet Mole collapsed on the floor, twitching.
He was going to die.
Ronin raised a hand at Raymond.
"Bang."
A Nen bullet shot from his fingertip and, before Raymond could even process what happened, it pierced straight through his skull.
