Lumiere's POV
Ruby's words filtered into one ear and out the other. I couldn't concentrate.
Aiden's voice had been blocked out after he forced my body to close the distance between us. I couldn't even bring myself to be upset about it.
A silent exhale left my lips. Cathy. Iris. Esmeralda.
She had been through many names, but now she had titles that I couldn't understand how they came about.
"Duke, are you listening to me?"
"No."
"You said you wanted to speak to me."
I heard him come close and opened my eyes. His head was tilted, and he looked slightly annoyed. "Are you fond of your Mistress?"
His brows knitted together. "Very much. Why?"
It would never have crossed my mind that I would wish I was in his position right now. A position where Cathy would defend me with all her convictions.
She thought I viewed them as monsters? She must have been highly disgusted at me when it crossed her mind. "You are aware she never shifted."
