The next few days after Ezra and Kaelis decided to become...parents together were, for the most part, uneventful.
Kaelis had firmly banned Ezra from participating in the investigation for the time being.
Ezra argued.
More than once.
He insisted he was still capable of helping.
Kaelis remained unmoved.
And, annoyingly enough...
The longer the days passed, the harder it became for Ezra to prove him wrong.
The more he walked.
The more he stood.
The more he tried to act like nothing had changed.
The worse he felt.
It reminded him exactly why he hated being pregnant.
Pregnancy made him feel weak.
Not emotionally.
Physically.
His body no longer listened to him the way it used to.
There were mornings when getting out of bed felt like completing a mission.
Some afternoons, he would simply be sitting still when a wave of nausea decided to ruin his day.
It was frustrating.
Embarrassing even.
