Chapter 241 - "Sienna's Prophecy" / "The Final Scene"

The final vision arrives on a Sunday, which is appropriate because Sunday in the mansion's schedule is the day of apart, and I am in my apartment in the city on a Sunday in late spring and the sketchbook is open on my lap and I am not drawing anything yet, just holding the open page and the pencil the way you hold things when you are waiting for whatever is going to arrive.

I have been having visions since I was seven years old. I have been drawing them since I was twelve. I have filled thirty-seven sketchbooks with the specific visual vocabulary of everything I've seen that was too significant to let pass through me without form, and the thirty-seventh sketchbook has been active for six months and is almost full, and the vision that arrives on this Sunday afternoon is the last one in it.

I close my eyes. I let it come.

They are old.
