POV: CHASE
The full inheritance has been in my body for three weeks when the room becomes uninhabitable.
This is not metaphor. I am specific about this because in the years of this story there have been many rooms that felt uninhabitable in the emotional sense, the rooms of bad fights and the rooms of the worst mornings and the rooms where the curse was running the encounter and the encounter produced damage, and I know the difference between the felt-sense of a room being wrong and the literal condition of a room in which two people cannot occupy the same air without the full Sterling curse at full amplitude producing an immediate and escalating reaction.
