[House Vaelric — The Next Day — Guest Chamber]
Morning sunlight poured through the towering windows of House Vaelric. Beyond them, mountains stretched endlessly toward the horizon.
Ancient waterfalls thundered down the cliffs; White mist drifted through the valleys below. And standing before the window, silent as a statue, was Zeramet.
His hands rested behind his back. His silver hair moved faintly beneath the mountain winds and beneath the collar of his robes, faint silver scales were visible upon his neck.
For a long time he said nothing, only staring toward the mountains, listening and feeling because ever since waking, something inside him refused to calm down.
His heart beat too quickly, his instincts refused to rest, and the ancient bond between Alpha and consort felt strangely different. As though something had changed, as though somewhere far beyond mountains and kingdoms a miracle had already happened.
Slowly, Zeramet lowered his gaze. "...Did Consort deliver the egg?"
