This material was mainly blue with white specks of light sprinkled all over it like spots. This part of the appearance of the material, its color, was comprehensible to him. What he didn't understand about it was its shape.
As he looked at the material, he failed to look at it in its entirety. He could only look at a small corner of it at any time, and that corner was always changing.
Anytime his vision landed on the material, the material would balloon in size, filling his entire vision with blue and white specks of light. So he always became too small to see its whole size and shape.
