Chapter 847 - What It All Means.

There is another one, but he isn't sure about its validity as an intentional contingency. It is that he believes that the life-leech is a contingency.

He believes that the yearly rent keeps divine beings too poor to afford the lifespan they need to create Supreme Metacs. But even if the life-leech doesn't count, he is certain that the mark the sect puts on the soul of every cultivator when they join the sect is a contingency and a powerful one at that.

Not only is he sure it is a contingency that the sect has put in place to restrict the cultivators in their sect, but he is also sure it is a powerful one because it has worked well against him. 

On the surface, the mark helps cultivators keep track of their bank account with the sect. This way, cultivators don't lose their money after they die, and the sect makes sure no one escapes debts by dying.
