While the conversation was taking place in the general's office, Tanisha was teleported in by a teleporting sergeant. She was waiting for her brother in the waiting room by the time they emerged from their meeting. Room assignments were established.
Tanisha's record was started but she needed to finish her enrollment since she had never attended school. There was nothing to transfer. This was common with original families. The general did an override to create her record and give her a room. She would need to go to administration in the morning to get her schedule and uniforms.
In the reception area, Cere addressed the students. "Gwin will be here in two hours so get your stuff into your new rooms and contact your friends. Make sure you have everyone who needs clothes there, that you didn't forget anyone."
"Yes, Mom."
They went to Lana's room first so she could move out and allow Tanisha to move in. Technically, she should have gone through the phase system but the general gave her an exception, since it was clear there was no way she was going to join the military. He did hope the family would augment the military if the time came, so he wanted to maintain good relations. Plus, it was good financial sense.
Lana left a set of sheets for her new sister and reluctantly offered a blanket. Tanisha graciously accepted them without understanding the hesitancy her new sister displayed. She hoped to get to know her more over the coming weeks.
Kattie walked in as Lana was handing over the bedding and noticed all of Lana's other personal affects were no longer visible.
"Are you squirreling things away in your bracelet again?" Kattie asked.
Lana chuckled, "I'm moving to my new room across from Paul. This is Tanisha. She is Blaine's sister and will be your new roommate. She's never been off the island so she will need some help learning the ropes around here. Kattie, while we are moving into our new room, can you contact everyone? All those in our wedding or attending and needing something to wear need to be on the parade fields in 2 hours. We will be getting measured today. It has to be today. If they can't make it, they can't be in the wedding and will need to provide their own clothes to attend the wedding."
Kattie smiled, "I'm on it!" Immediately, she started contacting people.
In Blaine's room, Karlen was doing his laundry. He preferred to do it overnight like his roommates but he found they kept competing. With Blaine and Chekof out, Karlen was enjoying the room to himself. It was a bonus that he didn't have to smell that werewolf for a little while.
Karlen began folding the last load when is door beeped. By the smell, he could tell who it was.
"You didn't stay home?" Karlen asked.
Chekof chuckled, "and leave behind this glorious life? We have that portal outing coming up. I also have grown attached to these kids, as much as I hate to admit it," he said with a wry smile.
Karlen laughed, "there are a few impressive ones, that's for sure!"
"Why are you still here, Karlen?"
He shrugged, "I'm not done. While I didn't get to see my wife out of this like you did, I did get to see my son from a distance. He made me proud the way he took down those security guards so your wolf friends could get to those stairs."
Chekof smiled, "I was told about the contribution your people provided. We are in your debt."
Karlen put his clothes away, closing his closet. "Just remember this during the next Walker War."
Chekof chuckled, "of course."
There was another beep at the door and Blaine peeked in. "Everyone decent?"
Chekof laughed, "has that ever stopped you?"
Blaine threw the door open, "Chekof! You're back! Will you be my Best Man? Our wedding is Saturday and we need to go out and get measured. As such, I need to get moved."
Chekof looked astounded and Karlen started laughing.
"Care to start over from the beginning?" Chekof replied. "Aren't you just 17 and 16?"
Blaine nodded with a huge smile. He explained while he packed. Since packing was quick, Chekof and Karlen followed them up to their new room. Once he was done explaining, Chekof smiled brightly.
"I will be your Best Man if my wife can attend. She won't need anything to wear. She has a rather large wardrobe."
Blaine smiled, "I'll make sure she gets an invite."
He and Lana started unpacking. "We need new bedding. What we have doesn't fit the bed."
Blaine nodded. "How about we go to the market then head to meet our designer."
Lana nodded, "we need to step across the hall real quick and let Paul know he's a groomsman."
Blaine smiled and leaned down to kiss her. He took her hand and they all went across the hall. Blaine explained everything to Paul. Karlen and Chekof stayed to talk to Paul for a few minutes. They decided to send a message to Kattie about meeting up outside the DFAC. Karlen, not being in the wedding party, was able to skip the large crowd and return to his roof. He needed to report the wedding anyway and get guidance. Would he and his wife be permitted to attend?
After explaining everything he learned to the king's messenger, the response he got back was, "she's marrying a human! Of all things…"
Karlen watched the hologram as his friend bit his lip. "Do you mind hanging on while I go talk to the king about this? I'm not so sure he's going to be happy…"
"Of course, please do. They are both still quite young and I think under normal circumstances, the families would have allowed this to grow on its own but the family feud… I will say they are strong people and it is a good match."
Kapi nodded, "I'll relay that as well."
After around 10 minutes, Kapi returned to the line. "You and your wife are to attend the wedding but a few others will as well. A representative will meet with Mrs. Techno to arrange it."
Karlen smiled, "thank you. Happy to serve, Karlen out." With that, he disconnected the call with the biggest smile he had worn in months. He would get to see his wife soon.
While the rest of their friends and one teacher were preparing to meet the design crew, Lana and Blaine found themselves picking out their new bedding. She was looking at the low-end stuff and he had to remind her, not for the last time, she was an Abel now. She will sleep on silk from now on.
He went into the area of the marketplace he wanted to shop on and she kept scrolling. She didn't like a lot of it and the price would purchase a small house. Suddenly she stopped and pointed at something on the screen.
Blaine chuckled, "of course roses. Well, they have that design on a couple different backgrounds. Pick out 3. Kyle wants one to be that light blue one there."
Lana nodded and placed it in the cart. She also picked a pale yellow and light pink. Blaine then changed the site to towels and rugs. They looked them over and the three of them found things they could agree on. They picked up their purchases, placed them in the bracelet then headed off to join their friends to all walk over together.
Finding the ship was easy. It was huge! It was a silver color, but light reflected off every part of the surface making it look like a bunch of tiny rainbows covered the surface. Gwin elegantly glided from her ship, greeting Cere with open arms followed by an embrace and a kiss on each cheek. She then looked over all the people there.
"We have five days… Is Dilly present?"
"Here, Ma'am!" a small voice sounded from the back of the group.
"Come forward please. Do you have any examples of your work?"
"Ummm…"
Lana giggled, "she made this beast outfit for me and I have the beast dress as well with me. I needed something to protect me but not hinder my movement."
Gwin nodded and spun her finger slowly, indicating she wanted Lana to slowly turn which she did.
"And you are only 16, my dear?" Gwin said to Dilly.
"Yes, Ma'am."
"How many are in your class?"
"There are six of us, total, Ma'am."
She nodded again. "I think I need to visit your class. We may need the extra help to finish in time. For now, let's get everyone's measurements. Lana and I will sit together once that's done. Who's your Maid of Honor?"
"Kattie," Lana pointed to the girl standing behind her.
Gwin nodded to her, "you'll need to sit with us as well as Cere."
She waved her arm, "let's get this started," and headed toward the ship.
