The man spoke very slowly, his breathing erratic. His voice was very faint and hoarse; if Jasmine's hearing hadn't been good enough, she wouldn't have heard what he said amidst the howling wind outside.
"Uncle Morrow, I'm not the one looking for you, it's Milady Jasmine looking for you." Evelina said, then turned to look at Jasmine, her eyes revealing a complex emotion. Although Jasmine had carefully explained to her initially that she wanted to rescue the freemen whose houses had collapsed, deep down, Evelina remained half-believing and half-doubting.
This world was cruel and realistic; what noble, high-and-mighty aristocrat would be willing to stoop down without reason to help lowly freemen who brought no benefits?
