In less than five minutes, Steve Rogers arrived at the beach villa.
As soon as he entered, he saw Tony Stark collapsed on the stairs, struggling to move as if he was trying to reach the basement for spare energy.
Steve immediately went over, entered the password, took out a new Arc Reactor, and installed it for Tony.
"Ahem!"
Tony coughed violently for a while before catching his breath. His face was pale, but his composure returned quickly.
"Thanks, old Popsicle."
"Tsk, how did you fall for that so easily?" Steve teased, walking to the wine cabinet to grab one of Tony's expensive bottles of red wine.
Tony managed to stand, poured himself a glass, and sighed. "That was a sonic weapon the military commissioned me to create to fight the Hulk."
He wasn't lying—at this stage, the Hulk had already escaped. In the movie The Incredible Hulk, similar sonic weapons had been used to restrain him. Fury had previously asked Tony to assist in developing weapons against the Hulk.
Compared to super soldiers, the Hulk's destructive power made him a more dangerous yet desirable weapon.
"Why did Obadiah turn on you? Wait—no time to explain. We have to get to Stark Tower now! Pepper's in danger!" Steve dropped the glass and rushed out.
Just then, Colonel James Rhodes arrived. Seeing Tony pale and weak while Steve ran off, he raised an eyebrow.
"You guys aren't doing some kind of philosophical wrestling, are you? Because I'm not into that!"
Tony froze, then glared. "Rhodey! Help me override air traffic control. Obadiah stole my Arc Reactor—he's up to something bad."
Rhodes nodded. "Alright, but it's broad daylight—are you sure you want to suit up?"
"I can't hide it anymore, so why bother pretending? I am Iron Man!" Tony said firmly.
He walked to the assembly platform, activated the system, and robotic arms began attaching the armor piece by piece. Unlike before, he now had stable power and didn't need to worry about battery life.
Moments later, the Iron Man armor sealed around him, and Tony blasted off toward Stark Tower.
Rhodes watched him go, his eyes full of envy. Turning toward the display case holding the Mark II armor, he hesitated, then muttered, "Next time, baby… next time."
What man could resist something that cool?
Stark Tower – Underground Research Facility
The factory buzzed with activity—new weapons, drones, and armored vehicles were under development.
Obadiah Stane entered hastily, spotting Vice President Pepper Potts leading an inspection with several agents scanning equipment.
He tensed. "What's going on here?"
"Someone reported a possible explosive device, so security is doing a full sweep," Pepper replied calmly.
Her long golden hair was tied into a professional bun, her tailored black suit accentuating her poise. She wore nude stockings and high heels that clicked sharply against the floor. She was effortlessly elegant—no makeup, no jewelry, just confidence.
Even a man as jaded as Obadiah couldn't help but stare.
After a brief exchange, he hurried down to the lowest lab.
The Arc Reactor was already installed in the massive combat armor. As soon as it powered on, the machine hummed to life.
"Perfect," Obadiah grinned. "I'll call you Iron Monger. Now, destroy anyone who gets in my way."
He planned to use the new armor to seize control of Stark Industries once and for all.
Meanwhile, as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents continued their sweep, Pepper's phone buzzed. It was Steve. Hearing his warning, she froze, then quietly began to back away.
Moments later, one of the agents scanning the machinery noticed glowing eyes in the darkness—
Bang!
He was sent flying. The other agents raised their weapons, but before they could react, a towering figure stepped into view—a massive metal suit.
Bullets clanged uselessly off Iron Monger's armor. He charged forward, striking one agent so hard that his body folded against the wall.
Boom!
A blast cannon fired, throwing another across the room.
Iron Monger's glowing eyes locked onto Pepper as she fled. His voice boomed through the loudspeakers.
"Ms. Potts, Tony's finished. Be my woman, and I'll give you everything you desire!"
When Pepper didn't respond, his tone darkened. The armor's Gatling gun rotated toward her.
At that moment, Steve Rogers crashed through the ceiling, shield in hand, striking Iron Monger with full force.
"Pepper! Get to the car! Go, now—I'll handle him!"
"Got it!"
Pepper didn't hesitate. She turned and ran.
Iron Monger smashed through a wall, landing on the street outside. A car slammed into him and was instantly crushed.
Obadiah roared and hurled the wreck aside. More vehicles screeched to a halt as civilians ran screaming.
S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly moved in to seal off the area.
News crews arrived within minutes, capturing live footage of Captain America standing against the three-meter-tall Iron Monger.
Despite the size difference, Steve didn't retreat.
Iron Monger swung a massive punch, but Steve blocked it with his shield.
Bang!
The impact pushed Iron Monger back, while Steve held firm.
As the giant prepared another strike, a streak of red and gold streaked through the sky.
Tony Stark, in full Iron Man armor, descended, palms glowing.
"Obadiah!" Tony shouted.
The repulsors fired, blasting Iron Monger backward.
The two armored titans faced off—one for greed, the other for redemption—while Steve Rogers stood between them, ready to end the fight.
