Zade only let go of him after they checked the clock and realized it was way past their usual breakfast hour.
As they disentangled, Rai found out that Zade and Shawn had stayed up until nearly two in the morning catching up on old times. Apparently, they might have stayed up even longer if their stash of liquor and snacks hadn't completely run out.
Rai listened as Zade spoke, and he could see, and truly feel, how genuinely happy Zade was.
It had to be nice to finally catch up with Shawn. After all, they were close friends in Rai's eyes. But Rai knew he would never personally understand that kind of bond; he had never had friends like that anyway.
Whatever...
Rai didn't really care that he didn't have friends.
He had Zade.
Though... Rai honestly didn't even know what Zade was to him either.
'It doesn't matter.'
Rai didn't want it to matter, so he forced himself not to dwell on it. Overthinking it would only end up stressing him out.
