As the bus rumbled forward, the chassis vibrating against the uneven asphalt, the vehicle filled with the light, easy laughter of the group.
Without any prior discussion or coordination, everyone had naturally reclaimed the exact same seats they had occupied on the way there.
Which meant Rai was stuck in the corner of the back row, compressed into the cushion. He was squeezed tight by Zade, who was clearly having the time of his life doing it on purpose.
Zade shifted himself slightly, shifting his shoulder just enough to anchor Rai firmly against the wall of the bus.
"Bastard, I will bite your shoulder off," Rai hissed under his breath, trying to wedge an elbow between them to reclaim even an inch of personal space.
