Only after the ice cage was completely formed did Mu Nianbing begin melting the ice sculpture within.
Within seconds, the thick ice turned into a pool of water and flowed away, revealing the vampire Nie Dong trapped inside.
As soon as the ice melted, Nie Dong gripped the cage bars and tried to break free with brute strength.
But before he could move, four ice chains erupted from the ground, coiling tightly around his limbs and pinning him in place.
Realizing his struggle was useless, Nie Dong glared at Mu Nianbing.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
Such precise and powerful control over ice—there was no doubt this young man was a high-level mage.
And falling into the hands of a high-level Ice Mage meant there was almost no chance of escape.
Mu Nianbing's expression remained cold, his tone calm and detached. He had no intention of answering.
"If you kill me, my lord will never let you go!" Nie Dong shouted, attempting to invoke his master's name as a shield.
But Mu Nianbing's eyes didn't waver.
With a mere thought, he forced Nie Dong's jaw open and pried out the vampire's bloody fang.
Nie Dong's eyes widened in terror. Vampires could heal from almost any injury, but once their blood fangs were destroyed, death was inevitable.
He tried to beg for mercy, but Mu Nianbing didn't give him the chance. The four ice chains pierced through his body in one swift motion.
Then, with a flick of his wrist, Mu Nianbing summoned the Scythe of Death, its dark blade humming with necrotic power.
In one clean strike, Nie Dong's soul was severed from his body.
His form dissolved into black mist before condensing again under Mu Nianbing's control—reborn as a lesser undead.
Under his silent command, the new shadow servant vanished into the ice cage, erasing all traces of the scene.
Because the cage blocked her view, Liu Xian never saw what truly happened inside.
Once everything was finished, Mu Nianbing walked back to her.
"T-thank you," Liu Xian stammered.
"This is my mission," Mu Nianbing replied with a faint smile. "If anything, I should thank you for helping draw him out."
Eighty million earned in a single day—it was far faster than hunting magical beasts.
If every assignment went this smoothly, he'd never have to wander the wilderness again.
Liu Xian remained quiet, her eyes full of awe. It was her first time meeting such a powerful young mage, and she didn't even know what to say.
"By the way," Mu Nianbing added casually, "I met your sister today. She helped me set up the ambush."
Hearing that, Liu Xian's guarded expression softened instantly.
"Master Hunter," she said with a small smile, "are you free now? I'd like to invite you to dinner."
Her invitation was both gratitude and practicality—someone with Mu Nianbing's power was worth knowing.
After tonight's encounter, she finally understood the city wasn't as safe as she had believed.
Mu Nianbing checked his phone and nodded. "I haven't eaten yet, so I'll take you up on that."
The door to Liu Ru's apartment opened with a creak.
"Sister… and Brother Mu?" Liu Ru blinked, her expression a mix of surprise and confusion.
Her sister standing so close to Mu Nianbing—it looked a little suspicious.
Mu Nianbing glanced at the two sisters.
Though they were over eighty percent alike in appearance, their temperaments couldn't have been more different—one mature and alluring, the other pure and gentle.
Seeing her younger sister's expression, Liu Xian quickly explained the situation.
When Liu Ru learned her sister had been targeted by an actual vampire, her face turned pale with worry.
"Sister, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Liu Xian reassured her. "Thanks to Brother Mu's timely appearance."
Mu Nianbing listened to both sisters calling him "Brother Mu" and couldn't help feeling a bit awkward.
He was about their age—this title made him sound like an elder.
"Brother Mu, thank you for saving my sister," Liu Ru said softly.
Then she leaned in close and whispered in his ear, "Don't forget what I promised you yesterday."
Warm breath brushed against his ear. Mu Nianbing blinked, caught off guard. He'd only been joking before… but it seemed Liu Ru had taken it seriously.
Liu Xian glanced at the two of them, a trace of joy mixed with worry flashing in her eyes.
Was someone like Mu Nianbing really within reach for ordinary people like them?
After dinner with the sisters, Mu Nianbing excused himself and left for the night.
The next morning, he contacted Liu Ru and brought her to the Oriental Pearl Magic Tower.
"Brother Mu, why did you bring me here?" Liu Ru asked curiously, glancing around the marble hall.
Almost everyone here was a mage—what was an ordinary girl like her doing in such a place?
Mu Nianbing smiled. "Do you want to awaken your magic?"
She froze, eyes wide. "Awaken... magic?"
It sounded simple, yet surreal. Why would he help her with something so precious?
"I've thought about it, but—"
"No buts." Mu Nianbing's voice was firm. "You said it yourself yesterday. Consider this repayment."
He had his reasons. If he wanted to strengthen his own influence—perhaps even surpass the Mu Family one day—then he would need people he could completely trust.
Liu Xian and Liu Ru fit that description perfectly. Between the two, Liu Ru was simpler and easier to guide.
"Th-this…" Liu Ru stammered, her cheeks flushed pink.
Before she could react further, Mu Nianbing gently took her hand and led her into the tower.
The moment they entered, a receptionist came forward—an elegant woman who immediately froze when she recognized him.
"Mr. Mu…?" She rubbed her eyes as if to make sure. "Have you… awakened again?"
It hadn't even been a full year since his last awakening, yet here he was once more.
Last time, he'd undergone a high-level awakening—could this time be super-level?
Mu Nianbing sighed. "No, I'm just here to see Master Huo Tuo and bring her for a magic awakening."
He didn't plan to submit the mission directly.
Trading the two vampire fangs for only eighty million seemed like a waste. Negotiating in person with Huo Tuo might yield better results.
"Ah, I see." The receptionist exhaled in relief, her professional smile returning. "Mr. Mu, Master Guo is currently in the awakening room. Please follow me."
And so, Mu Nianbing led Liu Ru deeper into the tower—toward the beginning of her magical path.
