"You don't look very good," I remarked.
She looked bewildered. "Is that something you say to someone who's on their deathbed?"
I raised a brow. "So you can talk properly. What was that earlier stunt about?"
Aliyah paused for a moment, her voice becoming clearer. "I'm close to dying, but I'm strong enough to hold my own. However... if I just suddenly drop dead one day, he'll be too shocked. I need him to think the only reason I died was because I had succumbed to my injuries."
Huh.
How selfless of her to do that, especially when she was this close to death. But then again, I valued that side of her more than anything, which is why it was that much sadder for me to see her like this.
But...
"Do you seriously plan to die before you can teach me your techniques?" I asked, leaning back slightly. "For one, I don't want you to die. And second of all, why would I not try to save you?"
