Robert didn't bother slamming the door. He strutted out of his office with long, furious strides. His boots struck the polished floor, landing heavily but quickly with each step.
His anger hadn't cooled since the report. If anything, it burned hotter the longer he thought about Ashrik, the Stone in his possession and the missing brothers.

The people who crossed paths with him parted instinctively. The espers straightened, giving him salutations. The researchers lowered their heads and mumbled faint greetings.
Robert spared them not even a glance. And to be honest, his subordinates preferred to be treated like air, particularly when his anger was blatantly clear.
