Silence, when used correctly, was never empty.

Scarlett stood by the long glass table, her gaze fixed on the slow movement of data across Rachel's screen. Nothing dramatic had happened in the last hour. No new leaks. No sudden statements. No visible escalation.
And that was exactly what made it dangerous.
"They are quiet," Rachel said, her voice low, careful not to disturb the fragile stillness that had settled in the room.
Julian did not look up from the tablet in his hand. "Not quiet. Calculating."
Scarlett nodded faintly. "They are deciding their next move."
Rachel glanced between them. "Or waiting for ours."
Scarlett's lips curved slightly. "Then we give them something to wait for."
Julian's gaze lifted to meet hers. "You are ready."
It was not a question.
Scarlett met his eyes without hesitation. "Yes."
