Scarlett stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, her reflection faint against the glass while the lights of the skyline flickered below like distant stars. Everything looked calm from up here. Too calm. It made her uneasy.

Julian had not returned yet.
She checked her phone again. No messages. No missed calls. Nothing.
